can u use the stock 24v cam and covert it to a p pump...

You can use the 24v cam as long as you arent running a mechanical lift pump on the block. Most just change them because they already have them out.

you can use it, but while its out you might as well...if u decide to do it down the road its either another 2 grand in labor to do it...or just a PITA to do it urself unless ur just a boss like matthews. lol

like the others, you can certainly use the stock cam....

it will be well worth the effort to drop in a $500 cam while you have the entire front of that truck and engine torn apart. The cam is coming out of the engine regardless; so after you've spent a half day tearing a truck apart, why not put something back in that at least will help your new monster breathe better.... it may not knock your socks off but you will thank yourself for doing it now whereas if you didn't, 2 years down the road you're thinking you'd like to do a cam swap....

You can also put in a marine cam which is an improvement over the stock cam, I was able to get one from Cummins for something like 150 or 200 bucks.
