Overhead gauge pod

I love it just put in in last night and i dont know what i did with out it. the only prob i found with it is that if u get the 3 pod u have to put the boost in the center. thats so u dont bent the tube. other than that it was quick and easy to install and im loving it. I got Pyro Boost and tranny. They also make a 4 pod one but i couldnt figure what else to put in that spot so i got the 3. I leaves pleanty of room for ur rear view. If u go to genos i picked all of my stuff ( gauges and mount for around 250 around christmass time. I did it for the same reason i like my OSH.lol if u want ill see if i can get a pic of it up tonight for ya to see for ur self.

I have the overhead mount for my Edge and love it. I think it's a more natural place to look. These trucks have big enough A pillars to see around especially if you add some gauges.

I have the one with 2 guages and the srt 10 pilliar because I wanted to keep my handle (keeps the wife happy).

I had one for about a year, and really like the placement of the gauges, but it wouldn't stay stuck to the windshield on a hot day.. I tried many many option, HD velco, HD double sticky back, etc... Always slipped..

So I ditched it for a tripple dash mount and couldn't be happer. They are easier to read going down the road. The only advantage the overhead has was they never had a glare on them.

I put in a 4 gauge overhead a view months ago. I like it, and like the other guys said doesn't get rid of handle or limit A-pillar blindspot anymore. Mine was a bit difficult to put together b/c it was 1 piece. (took some fancy finger work getting it all in a small space.) Other than that it was easy to put in.

Thanks for the reply's. I think i am going to go with the over head mount, now to decide 4 or 3 and what ones. I think the dash ones would be much nicer to see but i like my dash empty, i hate papers and junk on it.

I want to see someone put 4 gauges down the A-pillar, 4 across the dash, 4 up under the trip computer, and 2 over the steering wheel. Then you'd be truckin. :thumbsup:

Back when i had my powerstroke and i was always on thedieselgarage.com there was a guy that had 13 or 15 gauges

Did your gauges come with enough hose, wire ect to reach the overhead or did you have to find extra.

Did you pull the ceiling mat down or fish the wires, hose through

I like my 4 gauge. I fabbed up a sheetmetal bracket to hold the gauge pod in place from instructions on this forum. Basically you pull the overhead console a part and mount your fabricated bracket to that. I just put some doublesided tape on the windshield to avoid rattles (didn't pull the adhesive strip to the windshield). Double sided tape in Utah doesn't work out to well in most cases (and with how often we go through glass out here, it's not exactly windshield friendly) due to heat/cold extremes.


My Autometer pyro and boost gauge came with enough wire, tube (just) to not need an extension.

i had about and extra foot of wires and hose. the boost hose that came with my kit was 14 ft. and the cable gor the pyro was the same. worked out great. the only problem i have had was that the stock velcrow sucked. go out and but some good 3M stuff. rubb alcohol ove the plastic and the window. than take a mini toarch to the window and see all the water vapor come out of it. stick the pod on and wedge it up for 24 hours and il will tell u after that it will never fall off ur window. i mount 8lb cameras on olice car windowswith the same stuff and process. works great. good luck

Both the bracket and the 3m Velcro sound like good ideas The Velcro not sticking was the biggest complaint I have heard about the Overhead Pod

Aside from the wedging I did that 3 times... Left the gauges out for 24 hours to recude weight and still next hot sunny day it would droop!

have 3m on mine and have had 0 problems.

No stinking Velcro on the overhead pod! - TDR Roundtable



The TDR link's pictures are worth 2000 words. I just pulled the console apart as shown and used a piece of manila folder for a template, then cut it out in sheetmetal. Double sided tape DOES NOT WORK in Utah on windshields or most other things (how emblems stay on, I'll never know )

I've had this mounted for about 4-5 months and the only issue I have is the boost gauge gets pinned against the back of the overhead pod. If I don't monkey with it, it seems fine, but when I was still installing the other three gauges all the R&R made the boost hose quite brittle and created a leak. I'd like to find some kind of 90* fitting for the back of the boost gauge, but haven't had another leak since.

The 3M worked for me until the temperature dropped below freezing.. A few dabs of crazy glue took care of the rest. Guess I won't be removing the gauge pod any day soon.
