Hi everyone, i know this topic has been flogged to death, but i don't often see what people have ended up trying, in order to fix the problem. I just recently picked up a 93 d250, with 250 000 m on it. It seemed to run fine for the first week of driving and then i noticed once the truck seems to be warmed up, the truck seems to be forced out of OD and the engine lugs to bring it down. I've had some people say its the alternator and others say i need to pick up a new TPS. I'm hoping to narrow it down a bit, the guy I bought the truck from said he'll fix the issue, i'm just hoping I can help him out a bit with suggestions as to what it could be. The tranny was rebuilt around 3000 miles ago, so i'm not thinking its the tranny. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sound's like the TPS But also try adjusting the TV cable and see if that help's .But Before doing anything do a search and test the TPS to make sure it's working right .then go from there .

Mine kicks in and out unless it is all the way warmed up. I am pretty sure the trans fluid temperature sensor is reading colder than it should. It sounds like you may have the opposite problem.

I am fairly sure my TPS is reading that my throttle is mostly closed all of the time. But as long as it failed in a good spot I'm not going to spend the money to fix it. You might not be so lucky.

A lot of the guys just put an overdrive switch on it. I had one but I didn't like it very much because it won't let the trans out of overdrive even if it should be out.

If your trans is not dropping gear's then you need to adjust it .Mine on the Pot run's and will drop into 3 when need be .

I just use the lockout button if I need it to drop to 3rd. Works OK for me and I think it is still better than the overdrive switch. Usually it goes to 3rd when it is supposed to though. It may be working somewhat but I am not sure.
