I installed a NOCO Gen5x1 onboard battery charger last weekend on my 2013 2500. It worked nicely but last night, with truck parked and plugged in, I happened to see that the dashboard lights were on/cycling. Has anyone seen that happen before? Could it be because of the way I hooked the Pos and Neg cable from the charger to the battery? Should the Neg be connected to battery or to the chassis? I m also wondering if the Battery IBS has anything to do with this??

I can't say as to why your dash lights are on/cycling. I have 4.5amp Battery Tender installed on my 2017. I hooked the positive and negative directly to the drivers side battery and have not had any issues.

There have been some comments on here of tenders doing that - and some suspect it has to do with exactly where you connect it to the terminals. Do you have a pic and I’ll compare to mine?

Too late haha, I just moved the neg cable to the chassis. But I marked in the photo below where it was

I'll have to see if mine is doing this as well. I've never paid attention.

I thought it had more to do with where on the power side it was mounted but I could be wrong. If you still have issues let me know I’ll have a look at mine.

Well, I just had a look and it is still doing it. It is charging but when looking at the dash cluster, it is lighting up again

No problem with any of my BTs. I connect the pigtail to the battery clamp bolts and hang the polarized connectors by the grill. The BTs won’t charge unless they are connected correctly.

I've seen it before when I plugged in before the truck modules went to sleep. Now I wait a few hours or days and plug in using the seven way receptacle on the bumper...no more issues.

I suspect some type of electrical noise causing the module to wake up.

HVAC module behind glovebox is known to be one cause of truck staying awake.
