Well first off this is none dodge related, but i have been considering moving south from the rust belt, Tired of the cold and snow!! I have been looking at florida since ive spent many of my childhood years down there on vacation, but jobs in my field are kind of hard to find an the money just isnt there. So I thought why not check out alabama? Its close to the gulf close to florida best of both worlds. So my question is what are the construction jobs like down there for heavy equipment operator or even state an county? Im doing my own research but thought id ask some locals hw the economy is doing down south. Any info or advice would be great. I dont have a certain place im looking to move as im just looking at my options as for now. Thanks in advance!!

economy is around NE Alabama, I'm not sure on construction jobs.... in some of the larger cities I'm sure it might be better....Now I do know Huntsville is very progressive, and there are a decent amount of road projects goin on around the state, but they are slow as stink off ....

but on the upside, AL is one of the cheapest states for living expenses

My specialty is in construction. I have experience in heavy equipment operation, and have a BS in Construction Management. I'll be honest with ya man. I've been on the job hunt for over 6 months and havnt found anything worthwhile yet. I have a job, but its not where I want to be. It seems like there's lots of good jobs in Huntsville, but you have to know someone to get one of them.

So if you find something, give me a heads up. Its tough hunting around here.

I'm an operator, and I'm having to work on the road more than at home. It's not real good around central AL right now. Depends on what you can run and how much seat time you have.

well as ive been finding out with florida i need more seat time, in more equipment, I got plenty of time in loaders skid steers, dump trucks and tractors. So i'm currently looking for a construction job up here in ohio, i'm not having much luck...very disapointing. But all i can do is keep applying and not give up..

There is a pipeline coming thru central Ohio somewhere later on next month. I got a call on it. You might want to look around at some places on the web for stuff like that.
