Ok to buy a used torque converter?

I have been seeing alot of good deals on used torque converters lately. I know i have read it is not a good idea to used one but i was not sure why. Shouldn't a slightly used one say with only a few thousand on it be just as good as a brand new one and at less than half the price sometimes.:confused013:

are you talking stock? or a performance upgrade like single or triple disc? if it is performance i wouldnt see why not, especially since a triple disc is darn near indestructable. but give us brand, type, mileage etc, we need more info

not really without taking it apart, depending on design they can be rebuilt but probably not worth it. 2000 miles aint bad i probably would go for it
