oil usage

Ok so when I do an oil change if I fill all the way to the full mark within a week or so I'll be down 1.5- 2 quarts on the stick which is still well within the safe zone. Refill, same issue. However if I leave it low it hardly loses any at all. I have a timing gear case leak which seems to spew oil when its all the way up but when down the 2 quarts only seems to seep a bit. Anyone else run into this? I've just been letting it stay down. When I change oil I still almost as much out as I put in.

Mine would use oil when I ran my smarty on economy level. Not sure if it was the timing or what. Since I got the tranny I run it on sw9 and have had zero oil useage issues which I thought was rather odd.

Might be the front crank seal or you be hit by the KDP (Killer Dowel Pin). Extremely rare for 02 but I've seen 1 case of it report on 02. So I would bet more on front crank seal.

Been replaced. Also wouldn't it just keep leaking if it was the crank seal?
No. I had a buddy with a 94 Dodge that did the same thing get right near the add mark and it stopped leaking. Whole front the engine coated in engine oil but would stop leak absolutely once it hit the add mark. Weird but true.

Hmm I had it replaced once (I was in Utah) although it was still dumping diesel into the oil because of used injectors so it could've went again. I didn't know about the injectors...
