I use a filter 'socket' and several extensions on a ratchet wrench. After loosening the filter I drop it down by removing extensions until I can drain it into my catch pan. Didn't spill a drop last time!

Strap wrench...or if the engine is cool, just grab it.

My filter wrench has a swivel on the handle which fits in tighter spots. I have no idea how long I've had it or where I got it either...

I also use strap wrench. When installing oil the gasket and tighten to touch of gasket plus 1/2 to 3/4 turn by hand.

Thanks guys. A few oil changes ago i had a small leak at the filter and had to give it a slight turn with a wrench to get it to stop. I always oil up the rubber gasket and tighten all my oil filters by hand. This one seems to leak if i dont give it a little extra past hand tight. Maybe i need to toughen up a little haha. Using fleetgaurd stratapore filter
