Well, some of you may remember when I did this to my 08 Megacab. Some liked it because it was "Old School" but many did not like it because everybody is just into nice shiny things. I also tried it with the rims black and it looked much better but the tires were too wide and kept making the rings fly off the truck and it really looked like crap without them.

Anyways, I sold off my PowerWagon rims w/ 285s on them and am going back to stock tires and the same steel rims again once I find one or two more. I cannot decide if I should paint the rims silver, to match the rockers, Green, or black. I also have chrome centers and trimrings and also silver centers and some brushed trimrings that I can put on. I'm definitely going to do this so please don't suggest going a different route.

So what do you guys think would be the best combo?:confused013:

Go with Silver. I know you will change it later.

Usually a "General consensus" from your peers will tell you if an idea is good or not. I hear what you are saying though.

I am leaning towards silver too.

Cekkent, These are the same rims that you have hanging under your truck with your spare on it unless it has been changed out. I just painted them to match the rockers...

MikeyB, I am retarded, I know. Honestly, as much as I like to keep my truck looking good I am just getting tired of spending so much time keeping it that way. With these wheels I will be able to wash them and not touch them anymore unless I spray some tire dressing on them. With the blingy wheels you have to wipe them down, then cover them up to spray the dressing on the tires, then wipe them down again because you always get overspray on them. I'm done with that. I'm even going back to the stock tires.

I have ruled green out altogether. I think silver will look best but black would look good too since there are other black accents on the truck. I have time to ponder this as I am still trying to round up at least two more wheels preferably w/ new BFG Rugged Trails on them already, like the two I have now....

I'm 50/50 on Black or Silver. I think they would both look great. But I'm one of those people who doesn't have a great imagination and can't really picture it in my head...lol

I think black would look terrible with green. Not enough contrast. DEFINITELY silver. I'm big into black rims but they don't look right with blue or green trucks.

why go back to steel rims? the weight savings of the alum over steel is pretty good

my 17'' alum with 35" x12.5 weigh 70 per tire .... whereas the steel rim with 245 weighs 85 per tire

The two I have already are black. I am gonna put them on as is and then paint them silver and put them on again. I'll get pics both ways and we will see which looks better.

i was thinkin silver.. the conservative side of me anyway, but when u actually look at how much of the painted rim you see. i think black would really accent the trim ring and center cap. (if left chrome/silver) where as if you paint the rim silver, it'll just blend together and wont look anything special really.. know what i mean?

I do know what you mean. I may even get them on there as they are in black and just leave them that way. I wish I had kept some pics of the Megacab with them black. It looked a lot better than the picture I did show here....
