I wondered about this idea too. I had the same on my Chevy. If I'm thinking about the same principals, you'll want to watch out for your pinion angle as well as a slight shift in the axle forward in the wheel well (I think that what;s the result was). I know my Chevrolet rode like a brick but I also had stock rear springs and had terrible shocks on it. No idea how it would affect load carrying or heavy towing. I didn't do the types of thing with that truck that I do with my current truck. I load this truck to capacity to haul materials in the bed. Never did that on the Chevy, different time in my life.
