likely fuel level + TPS + engine load + rpm...

if you modify the truck with any form of fueling box, or injectors, or boost fooler, etc... it will cause the overhead trip computer to be significantly off on fuel economy which is why most of us refer to it as the "lie-o-meter"

mine says I get 19-20mpg! :hehe: where in reality I get 15mpg hand calculated.

just food for thought.

I would hand calculate a tank and compare to its average reading before remotely trusting it.

mine before I modified the truck was actually pretty spot on accurate....the moment I modified the truck though it was way off, and has been off since...

mine was more accurate with the Smarty. It would read 21-22 when it was getting 19-20 calculated.

Now back to stock it says 23-24 when getting 19-20 mpg. Doing 68mph on 90 Cleveland to Chicago
