I was just curious how many miles you 3rd gen guys got out of your stock ball joints. I have 72 thousand on my 03 and it seems pretty earlier for the ball joints to be shot. Thanks for the help
I changed mine out at 60 k. They were not really bad, but were out of spec. The OEM ones are crap. Go with a good aftermarket ball joint with grease fittings. They also give you a good reason to crawl under your truck and get dirty...lol
Mine were over 1mm of play at 63k miles. Spec. is 0.5mm they are considered worn out. All 4 were like that and I had some interesting bump steer going on. Replaced them and fixed that problem.
Just replace all 4 of mine on the truck in my sigline. Took truck in for state inspection and it failed. Only drivers side was bad. Mechanic said wheel had a 1"1/2 of play and if I drove it much longer the wheel was going to fall off.
76,000 miles truck and the 6" lift and 37" tires been on the truck since about 10,000 miles.
Replaced with Dynatrac heavy duty rebuildable ball joints...
i changed my on my 06 when i had 132k. i was told at 60 and again at 90k that they was bad. but that is because they did not know how to inspect them. and when i changed them at 132k yes they where bad with play. i changed them out for the dynatrac pro steers. and on my 07 they have been changed out twice already. only 1 time by me which had 92k on it. i replaced them again with the dyantrac pro steer. they was changed out 15k before that when the whole front end was replace by dodge
mine went out at 70,000 and i have always ran 35" tires, the shop told me the dodge ball joints were the worst, I replaced mine with Carli suspension life time ball joints and now have a total of 280,000 on the truck and still no problems.
