just wondering who has gotten into there shifter as far as rebuilding it. seems to have a good amount of slop when its in gear. just wondered if i can just rebuild the shift tower like in a kenworth or pete truck if its similiar

Good question both 6 speeds i have had are sloppy. both had 200k+ miles on them.

Yeah I'm in the same spot 200 k and just wanna tighten this thing up its not sloppy like it's hard to shift but it shows its age lol

you know there's a rubber bushing in the shifter handle itself?
that gives flex play in whole handle...

I'm looking into the bushing. Didn't get enough time this weekend

I welded around that bushing, so I got less flex and precise shifting but tranny noise is more noticeable thru the hollow shifter tube since is one body now, as well vibration goes back into your wrist since there no more bushing, I'm not sure if I like it...

its a pain in the neck to get it out, everything twits around the rubber...
