I have searched for and can not find anyone who has done a nv4500 to g56 conversion on a 4x4. I have a line on a low mile g56 from a 4x4 with transfer case if needed. Has anyone done one?

Donor truck 2008 4x4 6.7l
Into a 1998 12v 4x4 nv4500

TIA

nv5600 is a good transmission, but iv had one apart and iv seen the mess thats inside them. As far as a dd truck, the 5600 is excellent.

g56 = weak if you plan on bagging on your truck

nv5600 = strong, beefy but expensive to rebuild and slowly dissapearing... MUST KEEP FULL OF OIL OR BURN UP BEARINGS

nv4500 strong and beefy as well (after you get the updated mainshaft) LOTS OF THEM, lots of updated peices and parts...

the only reason you would want the six speed is for towing heavy, because it has a gear between 4th and 5th of the nv4500

5th is a LONG gear in the 45...

I can tell you what a 2WD needs for the conversion, but not a 4X4. There is a memberof the TDR that converted his 4X4 and posted some pictures about 6 months ago. FWIW, here is the link to mine. If you are not a member I think you can still read the first page. Mission: G56 (pictures) - TDR Roundtable

Search harder. I have commented on here several times in the last month. The G56 holds just fine to street abuse. Look at the 95 in my sig. Basically its a bolt in other than new drive shafts and modding the crossmember a little. Myself and renopecker have both done G56 transmission conversions.
