I recently purchased an '02 2500 HO but am not getting much power. I can't get it to smoke (which is a good thing I guess) which makes me think I'm not getting enough fuel. What steps should I take to fix this problem? The dealer says the pump is in the tank but I don't know if I believe him but this is my first diesel and am not sure. I've been told that the valves should be adjusted every 100000 miles. Is this something I can do with basic hand tools?

First things first...Get an aftermarket lift pump (LP)on the truck to keep from starving the Injector pump (IP). The life of the IP is through the LP...If wanting to keep it cheap for now, at least get a fuel pressure gauge for it (no less than 8psi is safe) BTW, if you plan to mad the truck mild to heavy, do not go with a original LP. As for the valves, pick up a manual at your local Autozone or O'riellys and it will show the trick...:thumbsup

fuel problems

thanks guys. I've already been pricing some lift pumps. Is airdog a good product? I think they are cheaper than the fass. I also don't know how many gph I will need. I don't even know what the stock pump puts out.

The Holley pumps work fine for mild mods. As far as mods, even a simple Edge EZ will really wake it up.

Definitely do somethign with the lift pump, the in-tank fuel pumps aren't worth sh!t.
