Ready to buy a new set of tires. I want to go to a taller tire. I read here 215/85R16 will work. What's the max width I can go? Truck is stock height, 2wd, non 4x4, non dually. I was thinking 235 will work. Not sure on anything larger. 215 looks too skinny from what I've seen.

235/85 is a very standard drw tire. 245 are a touch wide but will still work.

235 fill the wheel well nicely.
225 are a fairly common tire on th eolder dodges and always look small. i cant imagine how tiny 215 must be.

My dually has 235/85/16 tires on it. They are about a finger width apart out back.

Having a SRW truck they would fit perfectly. I thought the 3/4 ton trucks came with 245/75/16 tires?

215/85 and 245/75 are almost the exact same height, so make sure you look at the overall height listed if doing the math on tire size gives you a headache. I know someone with 285/70 or 75 tires on and 02 with stock SRW rims and I didn't see any rubbing.

I had good luck with Treadwright retreads and they really start to compete on price when you get into the larger sizes. I got 50k out of mine even though the alignment was messed up to start. Michelin has always given good life, but I just can't pay their prices. http://www.treadwright.com

Stock 2500 tire is 245/75/16 = 30.47" tall, 9.65" wide.
Common upgrade, 265/75/16 = 31.65" tall, 10.43" wide.

Stock 3500 tire is 215/85/16 = 30.39" tall, 8.46" wide.
Common upgrade, 235/85/16 = 31.74" tall, 9.25" wide.

THIS website has come in very hand to me. google "xxx/xx/xx vs xxx/xx/xx" and it's the first to come up.

Here's a pic of mine with 265/75/16 back in the day.
