No Start

1999 cummins 24 valve, ez edge chip, Fass DDRP, electronic fuel gauge, 175,000 miles

Looking for help!
Truck won't start. Codes P0336 (crankshaft position sensor) and P1688 (Internal fuel injection pump controller failure).
Changed crankshaft position sensor, and codes still show.
Thanks

The codes will remain unless they're cleared with a code reader or you go through enough engine start/run cycles to let the OBDII diagnostics figure out the problem is resolved. The engine must be running for the later to work.
Are you sure its not out of fuel? Have you check your fuel pressures to make sure the DDRP is working properly? If you still have the stock VP44 then possibly its just failed. They can fail just like turning off the key. You can look for possible blow fuses or bad relays but most likely the VP just quit.

Truck was close to empty and may have intially ran out of fuel, currrently has fuel and believe it was primed properly; but do not believe it ran out or fuel.
DDRP cycling properly and fuel pressure has been consistently around 13PSI. Could injector pump failure come up if ran out of fuel?

Blue Chip diesel has a nice write up on diagnoising no start related to failed VP44. Might be worth reading/testing and saving your money for the next MAJOR investment.

My rule of thumb is to rule out EVERY thing else before assuming that it is the VP$$. usually cost a lot less than a new VP$$.

It realy sucks to replace the VP$$, and it still won't start because of a bad fuse.:banghead:
