So. Had this same problem a while back. Sometimes you hit the key and she crancks right up other time nothing. I replaced starter contacts and plunger with no luck. Turned out clutch position switch was rusted out. Bypassed that and no problems for a year. Now its back. Plus i think the clutch master/slave cylinder are bad as ive just started having a hard time shifting gears. Any advise or help i can get would be greatly appreciated! Idont want to start throwing money i dont have at it.

Ok. Traced all the wires and connectors. All good there. So i pull the starter off and open it up. The exciter switch and wires inside were mangled making contact sometimes. So i slapped on a cheap reman and called it a day. Now to get the clutch master/slave cylinders replace and i should be back on the road.
