Ok my name is Tank many will laugh but yes that is my nickname it was given to me by my father many years ago pm me if you wanna know the story. Ok so I been browsin most of the forums for my 03 in the common rail section, I have some ?'s in regards i read that smarty is the best tuner really hands down for this year model truck, I dont aspire to build a 1000 hp truck or anything like that all I wanna due is maybe get around 5 to 600 and still be pulling decent MPG's the only real towing i do is a bumper pull 28' trailer camping during summer so asking the pro's on here i was wondering should i change much else other than getting the smarty??? i was thinking of having some bigger injectors pump and maybe adding a boost fooler if so are there more things i need to vest money in prior to the smarty? i already have a rebuilt tranny from the previous owner shredding it up prior, also some things i already have are performance intake and a leveling kit with 22.5's it is 4 wheel drive again i wanna thank any advise given also im now revising this i forgot to say that i do tow my 18 ft go devil as well but its no that heavy

Ok so I'm currently running straight pipe 4 inch back to 6 inch tip what do u recommend for fuel filtration? How difficult ult is gauge installation for a person with mediocre wrenching skill

smarty is good, diablosport predator is a cheaper option and one of the best for our 03 04 trucks (also a much cheaper option)

Smarty has a boost fooler built in, but IIRC the 03 needs adjusted at the wastegate on the turbo as well. AirDog or FASS for the LP. Gauges are not hard. Just connecting a few wires and plumbing for mechanical gauges. The EGT probe you will have to drill and tap the exhaust manifold. Watch turning the smarty up if it's the stock auto. Did the PO got a performance build or just stock? You are already letting it breathe with exhaust and intake. The next step is the lift pump and gauges to make sure it gets enough fuel and know what is going on with boost, egts, and trans temp. After that you could get a programmer and other mods.

i would suggest doing fuel filtration before anything else. if youre not going with an AD or FASS right away atleast put a baldwin pf7977 in the stock bowl.

filtration - gauges - smarty - give er hell

Thanks for the great info hydro shock do u recommend I do lp gauges before the smarty then?
No problem. Absolutely, gauges and fuel filtration go hand in hand because both are there to protect your engine and support future mods. If you are going to want a programmer in the future; definitely upgrade the lift pump now. Thoroughbred diesel has some good YouTube vids if installs. You can pretty much find whatever install video you want. Good luck!

P2146 Fuel Injector Group 1 Supply Voltage Circuit

Sorry to hear of your trouble man. My 07 did that an ended with me buying injectors. Do yourself a favor and upgrade fuel filtration if you plan to keep the truck. Things to check are connections to the ecm, pcm, injector wiring in the valve cover gasket, etc. I'm sure you can search and find more. Basically mine started at 78k and I didn't replace them till 115k because I kept messing with those things, dielectric grease on the connections, tightened the connections, reset the codes with my smarty, and let the truck sit on multiple occasions when it would act up. Not fun, but saved me shelling out 2k for a few months. Good luck!

No problem. You'll need them eventually. A guy I knew with a 6.7 swears by power service. He has his act up and used some power service to clear it up. I know the 6.7 injectors are different, but before you spend all that money maybe try a few things. Don't drive it when it runs like . People say injectors will hang open and melt pistons. I think that is only with many fuel mods, but I'm not sure what all you have done.

You are doing good with that many miles. Clean all the connections and put some dielectric grease in there. It should go away for a bit. I don't know how long you'll be able to hold them off with that many miles, but good luck!

Went to change catcher sw settings on my smarty -06 pod truck went haywire threw 1 injector code then another 1 back to back was running like crap thought it was injector time or ECM with multiple codes popping up .thank god it was passenger side negative battery cable terminal that I had just tightened the day before was loose again that's been a month and a half drove it to work and played in it no problem since battery terminal being retightened. Just because they are tight dont mean getting good connection make sure they are clean to get good contach

So a little recap of my day and yes I'm thread jacking my own thread I fired my truck up this morning started up right away no problems loaded my Gunsmithing tools pair of pistols I been modding for a customer and a personal shotgun I been needing to. Lean since my last duck hunt. I board my truck head for the gunshop i build and work on guns for in my spare time, I stop to get my morning coffee pull out my copenhagen pack my lip and set the radio dial to my favorite morning Podunk radio station I then begin my 10 mile drive I hit highway speeds of about 75 maybe 80 over the bridge I go and down the other side when all of a sudden I feel no power an losing speed I think to myself hum what can this be I then pull off the road to investigate as I begin investigating I no longer have any movement forward nor reverse I think to myself then pull out my tool bag from under the back seat and climb under my truck everything appears fine I then crawl back into the truck nothing seems out of the ordinary. I then call a fellow brother fireman to come tow me to his casa as I'm crawling under the front of my truck I now smell a god awful smell of very hot tranny fluid and as I think son of a b**** how did this happen a huge amount of fluid covers my face and arms and jacket it is now clear I have either busted a line while replacing power steering pump and pulley last week or my tranny cooler is out. So now I am irate I get towed to my local tranny shop a guy who is a friend of mine he says he will get to it this afternoon and see I am now livid and call the place I bought my truck we have about 10 min of me telling them they are worthless when I finally get a name of the previous owner I call up the shop where my truck supposedly got a performance tranny and they give me more info on the truck I just spent 14k on 2 months ago so how's you alls day been btw muchas amount of lead got thrown from my 1911 gov model earlier! I must say its a bit of a relief to tack the business card of the place you did business with to a target and unload a box or so into it!

A little more info the shop I talked to about po stated that he had tried replacing things and finally take. The truck to them they do transmissions and everything huge place very knowledgable staff they also tell me that the try k has had many problems during the time they have worked on it I am getting angrier by the moment, this all went down approx 4 hours ago I have since finished fitting guts to 2 1911 complete trigger jobs to both including competition triggers polished all moving parts internally to mirror finished fitted 2 high rise beaver tail grip safeties Skelton hammer adjusted timing for correct feeding polished both feed ramps and hand milled the feed ramp to reduce any potential for feed error shaved the extractor for more reduction in potential to feed error fitted and shaved new arced main spring housing with custom line checkering I then tore into the barrel and barrel bushing I polished barrel out then fitted the new barrel bushing to the barrel for tighter tolerances this new barrel bushing is made to have an appearene of a compensator but truly is useless and unappealing to me but hey not my gun I then widened and polished barrel lip to greater reduce possibility of feed error into the barrel polished barrel link and pin polished guide rod and reassembled all mods comets trigger pull has been reduced from stock 8 lbs pull to 2 lbs my best guesstimation due to not being at the shop to test correctly what's a man to do now when his wife still screaming pissed off bout the truck and I have accomplished my only set tasks for the day. I am now fitting lower parts for an at into at lower just because shotgun is already cleaned and ready to cut more ducks down decoys rerigged and all my reels. Leaned and lubed I'm in bored now.....

See what they will give you for your tranny and slap a G56 or NV in there. Is your truck 2wd or 4wd?
