Just put a standard bluechips vp44 in the truck. Install was no where near as bad as I would have thought... After bleeding the system and firing up the truck it runs great. I have noticed that if the truck sits for an hour or so, it turns over for about 6-7 seconds before firing up. I have no leaks. Fuel pressure guage reads 16 psi also. I know it must be air but how does one go about tracing it? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Point the nose downhill. If it starts easierafter that, it is usually the banjo at the back of the head, or the return "T".

When you got the truck started and have 16 fuel pressure the overflow valve is open evacuating ALL air that was in the system OUT in a HURRY !!! Like others have said point the nose down hill. Your getting AIR INTO the fuel system BEHIND the VP.

Is it normal for it to loosen up? I did move the vp return line around quite a but during install to keep it out of the way but never touched the back of the head. Is there any rubber line back there?

When I just did my vp a few months ago I could not get two injector lines to not have a small leak and mine was hard starting when it sat. It did not matter how many times I reseated them or tried to realign them. You had to watch it for a minute or so to see it start leaking. But it ended up being the connector tube o rings. I guess they must have been so old that taking the line on and off was enough to make it not seal.

Ya mine is strictly giving me problems if sitting level.. if I sit level and turn truck off and leave it for 20 minutes it will crank for roughly 8 seconds before she fire's. .. if I let it sit nose down even for hours it will fire right up no issues.. I haven't had a chance to look at the return line yet but judging how I was moving g it all over the place yesterday it probably came loose or broke somewhere in the back.

Located the "T" fitting... And sure enough it was wet. I'm not entirely sure how I am going to tighten it though. The return line that goes to the VP swings to the left or right very easily. I have no clue how I'm to get both arms back there to hold the fitting as I attempt to tighten it.

New update.... brought the truck into the garage and now the truck is POURING fuel from the bottom rear part of the new pump. It is coming g from the part that the six fittings come out for the fuel lines. The cap that has the security torX bits. I traced the lines and all are dry as a bone. I'm going to try and snug up that plate but im about done with this truck...

T-25 security bit (5 point) You can get them at most hardware stores & HD/Lowes. On the T fitting, many times, you need to buy a new fitting, as they do not sell the grommets seperate. Also, you may be able to just pull the VP return line out of the T & reseat the grommet.

THat sounds like a bad rebuild. I would contact the vendor you got it from for permission to tighten it up. Otherwise, you may void the warranty. If it is a good vendor, they should just send you another if you send a few pics of the issue. I personally would not keep that unit. There coulf be other issues in the future.

Ya I contacted them today however since it is Sunday I didn't expect a call back. I got the pump from BlueChip so hopefully they will send me out another one without question.

Update to this issue.... BlueChips hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday. I left a message over the weekend of my issue... I received a call back at 9:02 Monday morning and Doug stated that it was either due to too high fuel pressure or less likely a bad rear pump seal. I told him I have a pressure guage on the truck and it runs between 17 and 15 psi. He said no problem he's had just one issue before with the rear seal and that I would have a new pump at my house today. I thought that was pretty good customer service if you ask me. I've already pulled the pump out and am waiting on the UPS man. Wish me luck.

Its one thing to be in Business, but a business SHINES when crap goes wrong if they jump up and fix it.
Anyone can make a mistake, it is what is done about it afterwards that makes it number one.
Blue Chip has always been a upfront company .
