I sold my 03 and moving on to stock 2014 3500. With 61k miles Need to find out what I should watch out for and what’s the first thing I should do to make this thing reliable?

Why would you need to make it reliable, do you know that it's not already?

Salvage title or something?

Otherwise, drive it and do proper maintenance according to the owner's manual.

I had a diesel mechanic tell me to be cafe full of the EGR causing head failures . This is a clean titled truck . I had my 5.9 for 10 yrs and it was a solid motor . Just want to add some Performance to this truck so it last me 10 yrs of great service.

Diesel mechanic is full of poop.

DEF trucks use about 1/3rd as much EGR as previous versions, much cleaner running.

Adding performance won't make it last longer, good maintenance does.

Leave it alone and perform basic maintenance unless you just have a burning desire to mod.

Nothing wrong with these trucks stock.

Just make sure you have fresh fluids and filters and keep on top of the routine maintenance items.
