Picking up a deleted 13 2500, auto. It has a eco/tow tune in it with unknown tuner. Its a clean texas truck in washington. Im planning a turbo upgrade, looking into fleece cheetah with stock to mild fueling from exergry, like the 30% overs. Ill be towing just shy of 13k. Am i wasting money, should i look into a 2nd gen swap? Also looking into tuning. Anarchy, hpp, mm3... i came from a 04 5.9 with smarty... then went to half tons for a few yrs n now i have a trailer to haul a lot. Thank you for the input.

Considering the Cheetah can support 750hp, I would go with some bigger injectors and just pull them back in case you want to add power later down the road.

Tons of people argue for the 2G swap but I wouldn't hesitate to go for the cheetah. I was given a little shop tour at Fleece on Thursday and it's definitely a nice unit.

Thank you, ive read a lot a lot on 2g set ups and im not sold for my goals. Im just looking for healthy hauler and a little fun.. im not into going through transmissions like in my past 3rd gen days. 68s are pricey to build..

I would go for a 2nd gen swap mainly to upgrade to the T4 manifold. The stock T3 on the 6.7 is fine in stock mode. Once you add some fuelling the T3 is a little small of a manifold for the 6.7. I just ditched my stock turbo for a 2nd gen swap S467.7/.90/83. It is night and day difference for boost and EGTs.

I would go with EFI live or MM3. EZ Lynk is looking to be the new hotness of tuning. It is a cool technology, I just haven't see many reviews of it yet.

Don't forget the head studs...

My 2 cents

No way you are going to get 700-750hp through a 63mm Cheetah without melting it and probably your truck. 650hp all day long. I have a pristine Fleece Cheetah 63mm turbo made from a brand new out of the box HE351VE, not a rebuilt core return and has the updated actuator. Unit ran flawlessly for 5,000 miles but egt’s were just too hot with everything turned up on my setup (650+) put in a 467.7 and 4.10 gears and is a blast to drive but towing is doable but I have to manually shift constantly to keep in power band. Cheetah was great for towing and spooled at any rpm.If your not bent on hitting 700hp then the Cheetah is for you, look in classifieds and you will see mine with a stead speed manifold new in box. Good Luck, Tom J.

You will need a built 68rfe plain and simple, the stocker can be killed with the stock turbo and fuel, don't expect to add power, tow 13k and rock on.

Looks like Fleece changed their website to now rate the turbo at 700hp instead of 750hp. @BigJohnston what were your EGTs?

In terms of tuning, you can't go wrong between CA, Anarchy, or HHP. I will say that Calibrated Addiction has a new system that instantly generates a tune if you have a setup that matches something in their database already. Obviously not helpful if you don't already have the hardware to tune, but awesome none the less.

I am not sure what HP I was at but with 125hp injectors and Efilive by Hardway I really had to watch egt’s gauge because it didn’t take much on level 4 to get near 1600 den which is my limit. I have no doubt I could easily get 1800-2000 if I buried the throttle through all the gears. Level 3 was weird, sometimes It seemed like I could drive as aggressively as I wanted and egt’s were safe and other times it seemed like the egt’s climbed really fast and it was obvious I was going to hit 1600 dog and let off. I have Glacier Diesel Injectors and I am starting to wonder if they are under rated or I got bigger ones than I ordered. Rich @ Glacier does say he rates his different and 125 means at least 125 gain in rear wheel horsepower. BTW Fleece used to rate the Cheetah as up to 650 horse power. BD came out with the Screamer and said it could do 690hp (small print “flywheel hp”) the very next day Fleece changed their page to say Cheetah could 700hp. I am above 4200ft elevation but I don’t see an egt difference going down to 2000ft. I feel comfortable telling people that 600-650hp is the sweet spot for the Cheetah and you will love your truck and be able tow great even at 10,000ft. Great combination.
