Hey guys, i am new to Cummins and have some questions about the injection pumps. Some help would be greatly appreciated. I am getting a little confused about what year came with what pump. I am talking general here, i want to know about all the pumps from stock form.
So, from 1989 to 1993, the Ram's came with a 12 Valve Cummins with a VE injection pump, correct.
after that, Dodge introduced the second gen Ram. from 1994 to 1995, the Cummins had a P7100 injection pump rite?? the P7100 only ran for 2 years correct??
Now, after 1996, Cummins switched over from the P7100 to the VE pump again. They ran this until 98.5 rite??
Finally, after 1998.5, Dodge came out with there 24 valve engine with the VP44, rite??
i want to clear this out and understand all the different injection pumps. i plan on getting a second gen Cummins, but i do not know what years i am looking at. i guess i am looking at anything that is clean and second gen.
Thanks for the help guys, and correct me if i am wrong at any of this.
Yep what he said1 st gen ve pump 2 nd gen 94-98.5 p pump and 98.5 - whatever were the vp44 and now cp3 I belive. The 94 95s had a 160 hp pump 96-97 were 180hp and the 98 98.5 were 215 hp. The manuals in those years werea little more, I gave the hp for the autos
