Well im getting a new short block put in. I think i had a broken wristpin and i scored # 1 cyl. so they say im gettin a new short block put in. Anything i need to do special to break it in? Im assuming it will be a factory rebuild and not a brand new one but i could be wrong. Will the dealer know if its new or rebuilt? Anyway i hope its on its way, i need to get back to work !!

75000 on it and i didnt blow it up. I started to get what i thought was an inj. kock, a loud one. It wasnt an inj. the dealer said they thought it was a broke wristpin and when they pulled the head they noticed some scoring on the cyl. wall. They didnt look any further to see if it was in fact a wristpin because they called DC and they said they would send a new short block. The truck still ran fine and didnt smoke any, it just had a knock a bit louder than an inj. knocking. I only drove it a few hundred miles (easy) before i took it to dealer to get it checked out.

Sounds like you have a pretty cool dealer, considering your mods.

Hope all works out for you.

Took programmer off and boostfooler too. Not to mention my wvo kit. I didnt worry about the grid heater delete, or gutted tube. The mech did say the idle times and fuel used did show a programmer but they didnt care but DC may question it, they didnt though. I have had good luck w/ this dealer so far. When i first started using wvo i had some filtering issues and they knew i ran wvo but they still replaced an injector. The maehanic just said to take the kit off and bring it back the next day, he didnt want it in his way and he didnt want to put it back together. As for them checking the comp. on the truck, let em. I have had an issue with it not starting once and that was when i was leaving their dealership the last time and when they checked for codes they said everything was reset, keycounts and idle time and so on. It started up tho right after that and hasnt done it again. If they said anything then i will show them the paperwork i have saying that it happened in their shop last time and say it happens now and then. That was a wierd thing and they still dont know why it happened.

I would break it in just like you would a brand new engine. Once you have a few miles on it either put 2000 Lbs in the bed or hook it up to a 4,000+ Lb trailer to work the engine to seat the rings fully. My self I would try to drive the truck non stop for no less then 24 hours. If don't have the time to do that then leave the weigh in the bed or it hooked to a trailer for a few weeks so that the engine is worked hard for the first 5,000 miles.

Yes any can be found if they know what to look for. I had a superchip 3805. They cant tell WHAT you are using, but they can see that something has been altered in the comp.

well my truck is still at the dealer. It is running with the new shortblock but they say its got a bit of a miss in #2 & #6. They dont know why since it didnt have any miss before the new short blk. The old one still ran fine except for the light knock and didnt have any miss. The real crap of the deal is this, they called me tonight and said they were gonna get 6 new injectors to see if that helped it but the mechanic is gonna be gone all next week on vacation and i would have to wait til he gets back. He is the only diesel mech. they have, this really sucks!!! I dont see how it could be missing now since it didnt before, and it also bugs me that they still cant say for sure what caused the # 1 cyl to get scored in the first place.
