So Over the last month I've put in a new fuel pump in the tank, new FCA, new FRV, and new Injectors, I've seen my milage go from ~14-15 mpg before(when the pump and injectors were bad) to ~9-10.5 now. any ideas? is this normal for new injectors? do they need to be broken in?

Driving isn't any different- if anything i'm easier on the gas then i was before.

Define "new" injectors. Too many "new" reman injectors do just exactly what you see for the obvious reasons.

No break-in on injectors, they either work right form the start or not.

New as in Genuine Bosch.

They did the flow test before putting them in, but thats all they could do

Why did they flow test them and who are they? 04.5 These should be 0986435505 for bosch remans or 0445120238 for new. and flow testing can only tell you if its bad can't tell you if it's good.

They are my Mechanic that has done all of my motor work- he did the fuel pump, FCA FRV, and rebuilt the motor about 3 years ago(he didn't replace the injectors then as I asked him not to as I was trying to save where I could)

He ran the test as he said he had brand new ones that were bad in his Duramax, and ever since he runs them before installing as an insurance piece - he rather have to tell a customer he got a bad new part, then find out after he installs it and has to do warranty work on them. He insured me that its not a 100% but it is something he can do.

The injectors came from Cummins directly

Unfortunatly cummins does'nt buy reman injectors from bosch they reman themselves in mexico, nor do they habve bosch equipment to test. They use hartridge equipment to test but they don't have the proper tooling to build them correctly.

Hmm, Well that is on me - He said the were new from Cummins, so I assumed they were Bosch remans as thats what I've read that Cummins uses Bosch ones and to get true new is almost unheard of.

With all that being said we've had several customers with the same problem of low mpg, try running for 2k to 3k then see where you are, is there a ryhme or reason i'm not sure yet when i am i'll post it. If you still have a problem let me know your location and I can recommend a Bosch common rail authorized dealer near you that can properly test.

That unfortunately may be the issue. If Cummins IS using the NAFTA remans they are junk just like the Dodge dealers are getting.

Going to have to go thru a Bosch dealer, I am thinking, to get the real deal.

Do you have an idea how per injector they charged you?

I'm not sure how much per injector - i believe they were roughly 2200 but will have to check.

I'll keep updated on how it looks with more miles. altho not sure how many i'll get - looking to sell big red here soon.

rangergoalie, Still want you to break in your product. However if your still having problems I will make you a 300 dollar deal. I will test your injectors and give you a full read out of results from the bosch software of our facility.
