It's possible you have a bad sensor for the gauge. Did you buy it new or used?

What all mods do you have done to the truck besides the gauge? It helps to fill out your sig with your information, or post it all up when you ask a question. Need a little more info to help.

Is it a mechanical or electrical gauge? Do you have another one you can check it with? Is it tied into the shcrader valve in the IP or did you put a new tapped banjo bolt into it? If you have one you can use a tire pressure gauge to that schrader valve to check it, but it sounds like your lift pump has crapped out on you and it's starving your IP for fuel.

so you hooked the sender directly up to the pump? you probably killed it because of that...you need a needle valve in line before the sender

Just like cmns2500 said, it likely wiped out your sending unit. You need to get a needle valve and put it inline before the sending unit to protect it from the IP's pulses. And even then, you might have a bad lift pump and likely a worn out VP44 that's likely to fail in the future.

Napa. Ask for a weather head 1/8th npt needle valve. I think the part number is WH 6720 but not positive.
