Never again Cummins or not.

I have put 30k on miy rig in 7 months.

I have spent 2k on the front end and will spend another 1-2k( lp,gasket leaks, pinion leaks, on and on) on additional failures with the Dodge machine, who knows what is next. I am stuck with it for the next few years. Unless it goes pretty much maintenance free for the next 100k. I will not be buying a DODGE ever again. My gut with gassers for 30 years was that they were inferior, I now believe I am right.
Rant over.

The dodge is pathetic, i like the cummins but what surrounds it i dont like
dont buy a Ford, it wont do you any better.
yep, the cummins wrapper leaves a bit to be desired.
sorry to hear the woes. i know its agrravating when your
ride continually breaks down on you and it feels like a big
thirsty piggy bank.
My HEMI has never had any problems :\
i feel your pain bro....i would be the same way if my truck had all those symptoms. ....the cummins on the other hand will outlast any truck.

did you buy the truck brand new?
the hemi is not as heavy as the cummins so less component problems
It was caused by that crappy sticker you have on it! :rof JOKE!!
Maybe it was just one of those problem trucks.
The first thing I noticed coming from a Ford to a Dodge was build quality. My Ford was tighter inside after 140k than my Dodge was at 8k. I havent been in any new Chevy's but I assume they're well built also. In my experience every Dodge I've been in has been cheaply built with the Cummins being the best part. At least the rest of the drivetrain is finally getting updated, I hope the trucks will follow.
YA cant beat the other trucks cummins good engine, but the truck and auto's have some problems, atleast the 47RE did
I believe you guys are definitely the minority. There are lemons no matter what manufacturer you go with. I bought mine new, have had it for 2 years. I have 45k miles on it now, only problem I had was the ac plenum, which the dealer replaced, no problems since. Good luck with your truck, but don't give up because of one bad experience!
Yeah, we have 13 cummins in the family. 3 with over 250,000 and only changed brushes in the starters. Another had to have a tranny after 150,000. Then my dad's '06 had to have a tranny after 35" tires a programmer and hard hard playing and pulling with 36,000 miles. The rest have had no problems. Oh, wait 1 we parked because the front end is wore out after 280,000 miles, but everything else is still good.
i don't believe they are in the minority. i love my truck and have had none of the problems with the front end suspension, but look around the net. there are lots and lots of people with front end suspension, ie. ball joints, problems. tranny troubles are rampant. dodge has a great motor to put into their rigs, they just have no idea how to package it. and no idea how to put the torque to the pavement. all you have to do is search some of our very own forums to see all the troubles people have with these trucks. this is not a bash, just reality. i wouldn't trade my truck for a ford, no way no how. but i might look into a durasnatch. :thud::CRY:
No problems here, but I have a 2wd.:thumbsup

personally, i only have a dodge because of the cummins. if i had the money i would put a cummins in an older body (2000-2003) ford. all the oilfield guys i know say that the only truck that can last out in the fields is a ford, the dodges fall apart after a year or two.
Reality is, you will typically only hear from the ones who are having problems,,,that is the scope of these forums, getting help with problems. If you count the small number of people with problems compared to hundreds of thousands of these trucks that are sold each year, you will see how small the percentages are. As for the Duramax, go for it. You will see the same similar patterns with GM or Ford. People are people, no matter where you go. These people work on the assembly lines, in quality controls, etc. They have bad days, some are just bad at their jobs, and they do make mistakes! I have seen problematic Duramaxes, Powerstrokes, as well as Dodges.
my comment about looking into a durasnatch was supposed to be meant if i was having the kinda problems i see rampant among these forums. i am not. i am having some tranny issues, some are caused by me and some are the usual shuttle shifting B.S. that dodge can't seem to fix. chevy has a better overall "package" they have way more creature features and the new durasnatch is a runner, right from the stealership. the 5.9 however is a proven workhorse again and again. that is the reason i own a cummins. as far as what you see vs. the overall ownership, you are correct. i concede that these forums are for discussing your problems and that you will see alot more of those posts. in the end i ain't going anywhere, unless my 5.9 gets me there. it just gets frustrating from time to time with people that you have to work with at the stealerships and the way they just rip you whenever possible. i'm working on a solution to my own personal cummins problems right now. just waiting on j.barker to get back with me so i can figure out the funds necessary to end my dealings with dodge on my truck.

I call :BS::BS:!!! At least IMHO!!
I borrowed an 04 Ford diesel dooley while my truck was in the shop. And it was in the shop for work I wanted done; not that needed to be done!!! The Ford was loud inside, poor steering response compared to mine, piss poor fuel mileage, a dog off the line and do you want me to continue.....????? Ford sucks IMHO!!! Plain and simple!!!!:T:
