I towed my tractor today for the first time since I put on Injectors, fuel plate and Turbo. It weighs roughly around 7k. My question is that it really bellows ALOT of black smoke and the temp will reach about 1150 before shifting gears (if I am hard on the throttle), although the smoke is less once the turbo has spooled past about 10 psi (which seems to take a little bit) after 20 psi its all clears up. On a side note the Turbo will only hit about 35psi.

Is this normal for my type of setup?
Do I need to pull the Fuel plate back some more?
Will timing clear some of this up?

OR just push her till somting breaks!!!:woot:

Let me tell you it is alot of black smoke!!

I dont think I am over fueling it though because the EGT's are with in reason. 70MPH steady they are at 950 - 1000.

Any way I am curios to see what you guys think.

Im not sure about that turbo but it is not giving you enough boost aspecially down low. I dont understand why you would upgrade your turbo if you are going to only push 35 psi unless your egts were a problem originally. If it was me I would put the turbo to push 45 but im not sure how to fix your problem other than shift at higher rpm

Thanks guys, how do you tune your AFC? And how do you adjust the timing?

Tune it to keep smoke at a resonable level, but more importantly the acceleration at a maximum. You want to keep the turbo on top of the pump so to speak. Back the pre-boost screw out and adjust the starwheel accordingly. Like most tuning its more an art than a science.

I did what you recomended DUAL K20's, I adjsuted the boost screw ont eh AFC and was able to push it full forward. I was only able to drive it around the block, has a little more smoke although it was not as bad as before. I am anxiuos to pull wiht it again to see if the TUrbo will spool a little better down low.
Do you think I need to push the Fuel plate a little more Forward? I am concerned about the EGTS until I can get a bigger Intercooler. What are your thoughts?

you dont need to spend money on an intercooler to lower your EGTs. yes it will help tho but they are expensive. personally i would do a turbo upgrade, something that spools quicker and gets that smoke out. thats what helped me out with smoke it seriously cut it in half. and im making over 40psi. your jsut dumping a lot of fuel and not enough boost i belive.

I do have a bigger turbo installed, it is an HTT 62/71/13, I dont think it os to large. just not sure if it is getting enough fuel down low to spool it. I will know shortly whe I tow with again here next week. I just made a few more adjustments to it, so I hope it will spool like i think it should.
