What would me my best bang for the money? I have a 98 12 valve 4x4 dually- 5 speed with new valair single disk clutch. I haul trailers all the time and need a little more out of it. Has 4.10 gears so low end it will pull a house down. Put 22.5 wheels on it and it helped my gear ratio a lot. After reading sounds like it would help for me to get governer springs because it loses all power at around 2000-2200 rpms. Pumps turned up a little and fuel plate is moved forward a little bit. Don't like to smoke people out so I don't want that. It smokes like a train already if I am loaded and it lugs down a bit. Just had a 3rd kid so don't have much money to put into it. Please let me know! Thanks!

I think what you mean are governor springs. Yes they make a huge difference. I just have my stock ones tightened down 3 clicks right now and can turn 3k. I would buy 4k springs and 60lb valve springs. Pure diesel power has a pretty good package deal. Do you have gauges? Boost elbow?

I would get gauges first. Then do a lot of reading about the free mods on the afc, get a boost elbow set around 30-32psi, and then worry about rpm.
I did mine myself but its not something everyone can do. I would read, read, read.

Definitely look into basic pump mods. Consider grinding your fuel plate to a different profile or purchasing a plate with a different profile after you have gauges. Check out Isspro. I just bought the EV2's and am very happy with the gauges and Isspro's customer service. I like a #10 for towing and daily driving, but I haven't played with many others. I don't turn more than 2750 rpm, but I like the way my 4k kit drives more than the 3k. With proper tuning and sensible driving smoke can be controlled. Knowledge means more power and less smoke when it comes to pump tuning so as customharvester said, read read read.

What did you pay for the gauges? I will look into the fuel plate. I think it's set pretty good but just lose the power at 2000. With 4.10 gears it seems like I hit 2000 every second. The wheels helped a little but I wasn't sure if I should get a intake and if I got a bigger turbo would I have to get bigger injectors? Remember that it will have to be turbo for hauling not racing! What would be a good route to go?

I have 3 glow shift gauges (boost, pyro, fuel psi). They're cheaper gauges but still good quality. The pyro is higher probably around 80$ but the fuel and boost run around 40$-50$. 7 color led backlight so you can choose whatever color suits you. I'm happy with them all, accurate and they are really responsive. Just as good as some auto meter gauges I've used.

4k gsk can make the pedal touchy. After a few you should get use to it. So be fine with towing.

Defiantly gauges, boost elbow, pump tuning (afc mods, plate change, etc) then I'd get 4k gsk and 60lb springs.

Those should make a world of difference. after that then come back and tell us what you like and don't and you can go from there.

You dont need a bigger turbo or injectors if you think it runs good enough now. I would block the wastegate at the turbl and block the same line you blocked at the turbo at the afc so you wont have a boost leak. Grind the plate to your own profile and 4k governor springs. I wouldn't put valve springs in it if you dont plan on beating on it.

I got both from toxic diesel, great prices and phenomenal customer service.

GSK:

60lb Springs:

And he is correct that valve springs aren't required if not going above 3200 rpms, but for the price I like the piece of mind, and since you tow if later you get an exhaust brake youll already be setup for it. Also springs lose tension over time and use, how many miles you got on it? Just things to think about.
