i have been reading many forums and articles about the death wobble happening on alot of pre 3rd gen through 2006 trucks. theyre saying track bars, ball joints and steering dampers are the fix but i just dont beleive thats all it is. ive also heard of people saying something about adjust the caster to a more positive setting. has anyone had this issue and what was your fix? this is my daily driver; it has 129k miles and its a 04' 2500 5.9. thanks

I replaced all the things you listed, and it helped some. But it didn't completely go away until I upgraded to the '08 and newer steering gear(everything between the pitman arm and steering knuckles)Mike

In short, DW can be caused by just about every moving part in the front suspension and steering. Worn tires and tires will weak sidewalls along with improper alignment also has a lot of affect on it.

Most of the time it is a combination of small problems that work together to create the "perfect storm".

Castor was way off on mine the first time I had DW, never had DW in 60 000KM then dealership replaced almost everything on the front end and set castor to 3.5* which is within spec but not enough for a lifted truck and DW happened instantly. Set castor to 5.5* and it was good for about 20 000km. Second time ball joints were wore again, stealership said they were good but I replaced them anyways with a set of Dynatracs and DW has not returned now for 35000KM. Not saying it will fix your truck but thats been my issues. BTW I did have DW even with the new 09+ steering so it goes to show you never know.
