Idling issue with my 03 cummins my rpms bounce around from 500 to 1500....it will idle down and nearly die then idle back up to 1500 then down again...its just when its idling....runs like a top down the highway....doesnt burn any oil or have any blow by......can anybody shed any light on the situation on what this might be....and how much $$$$$ to fix....thanx



03 dodge 3500 4x4 dually 6spd man....sittin on rockstars with a hydrolic haybed

You need a rail pressure gauge or a scanner that can monitor PID's. If the rail pressure is fluctuating (most likely it is), the FCA could be the culprit if you have no other symptoms. It takes maybe 10 minutes to replace it, T25 torx bolts. The manual states that you can take it off and shake it to test it. If you hear something rattle, its good. However, many people on here say that this test is useless, so I wouldn't trust it too much.

Found a video on you tube about this MPROP or FCA and the guy said he got his from bosch...which was some cheaper than dodge...part number 92840066 does this sound right...would the bosch brand be a good choice???

1. Dont buy anything from a dodge dealership... And I would get a hold of a shop that can monitor your rail psi. Replacing parts without finding the cause first isn't the way to go about fixing it
