So it goes like this. Installed 4" downpipe on the 1990 and now it rubs on the front driveshaft on bumps as the leafs are soooo saggy!

I have known I need to look into them for a while as when the truck is parked the leaf is only about 1" from the bumpstop and the bumpstop does hit on most bumps! :shock:Now that it is rubbing, I would say I am looking into it sooner than later!

So I see three options and I need to know what y'all think is the best route to take.

1 - My least favorite option, re-arch leafs and re-install.

2 - Purchase new leafs and bushings

3 - Install a set of air bag spring helpers like what would be used on the rear. As I was planning on baging the rear anyways (they are also soggy, especially when towing!) and as I do already have on board air...Ironically does seem to be cheaper than option 2!

4 - Listen to any other options you all may have! :rof

Thanks!

my suspension is actually resting on the bump stops all the time and I don't get rubbing with my 4" exhaust. I'd think your dp needs to be adjusted over (rotating) a little bit

That said, if you need suspension git er done! :D

I'll tell you what i would do if I was in your situation. (which I am as far as crap suspension goes, I just don't have any money to fix things)
I would get a 4" lift, new shocks and crossover steering. If you install everything youself you'll be looking at about $1700. And if you haul or put weight in the back of your truck, get airbags back there too. The crossover steering will be a big improvment over what you have now. The problem with crossover steering is that you need at least 4" of lift to make it work properly.

4" lift? Wont other things need to be changed if I go that high? I was more thinking stock height...

Richard - You are I are in much the same boat. My boat also does not have $1700! ;) Was thinking more in that $500 ballpark.
