check all the front end components for wear and tear.
if you dont plan on adding power, then no worries on
the auto. if you do, then plan to spend some money
to bulk it up a bit.

Others here would be better to answer than myself but they can chime in if I'm off base.:confused013: If the 06 you are purchasing is stock and hasn't been pulling heavy loads, not crazy high miles, along with having had regular trans service, I would drive it until a problem arises unless you have the scratch now and want the peace of mind or I would start planning/saving for a future upgrade with one of the popular vendors blessed here like Goerend or Suncoast. Good luck in your quest. Later!

yea thats what the mechanics at my shop have said, get one under 60 or 70k miles, and get one without a gooseneck or 5th wheel hookup...ive ready that u can beef up the trans, as far as, VB a converter and such like that and run some power through it and be ok..i just hear certain horror stories on ppl not bein able to keep a trans in one and its a back and forth deal i suppose...ill pull a 32ft camper to the lake which is roughly 90 miles, and a 24ft enclosed racecar trailer pretty often when the season opens...id like a tuner, exhaust, and intake and ill lift it and put bigger tires too...just any and all help from anybody would help tho..i appreciate the help in advance

Your best bet would to be to do your homework on this site, look for an unmolested truck with 40-50K miles and have an independent mechanic check it out. Look for signs of programmers (velcro on fuse box cover, plugged pyro bung, velcro or glue residue on dash, lots of soot on rear quarter/bumper)

The loads you are looking to tow would'nt be a problem stock, of course that rarely happens with performance guys, its just too easy and cheap to mod these things.

When you find a truck you are interested in post the details here, there are TONS of eally smart helpful guys on this site!

Good luck!

man, if your gonna add power, bigger tires / wheels, and tow
fairly often, then you need to try and find a manny tranny.
unless you plan on all out racing, you really cant go wrong
with the 6 speed.

yea, well race twice a month...i quit drag racing to start dirt track racing and i had an ls1 camaro ss so being able to have a cummins and add lots of power with a programmer and exhaust would be addictive i assume

towing that much with the power enchancements you're adding, put in the build tranny first thing. the stocker will leave you stranded at one of the races with the headache of repair/replace hundreds of miles from home.
adds to cost and don't get to plan tranny upgrade

scope out your local diesel hot trucks shops for install. i hear only positive about Goerend trannies. Can't beat their warranty service. call Dave directly.
search the forums on built autos.

$5000 now will save you a week from hell later on.

you may quit dirt track racing after you build up the Cummins, it's all mainline diesel snorting.
one boosted launch will make you fall out of love with that Camaro.

so $5k and ill never have to worry about trans probs? my car weighs about 1250lbs so it aint a heavy load yet, but i figure the repetitions will toast it...i know a cummins is the ideal diesel motor because i drive a 600 isx cummins in a western star winch truck here at work so i love a cummins! i just want to have the bolt on power and a reliable truck at the same time
