David, you exemplify the things you kept calling GAmes, as such I’m out. Have a good life.
He's a moron, not worth anyone's time on this forum.

OK, so back to the tranny. I had just changed the gear oil in it a few month ago, and I used the Amsoil stuff. I was only able to drain out about 3 quarts through a bottom PTO cover bolt, so there are about 2 quarts left. I’m about to pull off the tail shaft housing, and I don’t want to lose those other two quarts. Is there a way to get most of it out before pulling the tail shaft housing? Would be nice to have a drain plug on the bottom, but of course there isn’t one.

No way is there 2 quarts in the bottom if you used a bottom PTO cover bolt to drain it. If my memory serves me correctly that bolt hole is lower than the bottom of the tail shaft. If it isn't, put a drain pan under it while you are pulling it apart.

Before I pull the tail-shaft housing…. Is there a gasket between that and the gearbox part on the tranny. I see blue silicone sticking out now. But I’d rather use a gasket if there is one.

No gasket , just RTV ( at least on both the ones I’ve pulled apart anyway, including one freshly rebuilt by standard transmission and gear)

From what I found reading on this site, the torque wrench setting for the fifth gear retaining nut is supposed to be 270-280 foot pounds. My torque wrench only goes to 250 foot pounds. Think that’ll be enough since I’m installing the retainer as well?

So I’m about to install new 5th gear washer and nut, but there’s nothing to keep the washer centered on the shaft under the nut. Isn’t there supposed to be a snap ring or something here to center the washer?

Hand Sleeve Wood Flooring Chest

I thought it might be a good idea to fish around in the bottom of the gearbox with a magnet thinking maybe whatever is supposed to keep the concave/convex washer centered under the fifth gear nut might have broken and was in the bottom somewhere. All I could find were a few metal shavings (which I might expect from a tranny in a truck that’s driven around the world thirteen times), and this small piece of metal that looks like a roller from the inside of a small bearing maybe? Any ideas what this could be?
