I want to put a fuel pressure gauge between my Fuel pump and IP. Midwest fuel injection has a kit for 80 bucks but im pretty sure i can do it cheaper on my own. Has anyone rigged up their own gauge or have a write up on it? Also is there an additive i can put in the tank every now and then to help that pump stay lubbed? What about diesel Kleen.

I use Stanadyne Lubricty. As for gauge, if you want to go real cheap...go to a hardware store and get a gauge for a pressure tank and then to a parts store and get some fittings to tap into the inlet of the injection pump and run your line from there. may want to put a needle valve in th eline somewhere to close off the pressure a little so it doesn't ruin the gauge fast. I have this geared up in mine, but I do plan on buying a better one like Dipricol or Isspro .

I just ran a gauge to mine as well 2 days ago. A mechanical one from Napa 0-15psi lights up red for 40-50$. They also sell a mech gauge wire kit that comes with all the fittings. I lucked out on my 98.5. I have 2 pipe thread ports on the fuel filter housing so thats where i get my reading from.

2 stroke oil is the best thing to lube the vp44. Add 1 oz per gal of diesel, or one quart every tank.
