Looks good! I had the /bhaf on my 04.5. You might want to invest in the outerware cover....it'll keep it dry if any water gets up in there....also extends the life of the filter. :thumbsup

Good job,and nice write up:thumbsup

Here ya go......Outerwears.com - title

Not sure if any of the vendors/sponsors here have em or not....you might want to check with them.
Pantyhose would be better than nothing. I ran mine without for a while, and the bugs and bigger dirt plugged it up pretty quick.

Being new here, I'm curious what BHAF stands for. Why is this so superior to the stock air box? Thanks

ya i think you should be able to not to firmiler with the newers but all the wastegate does is to tell the turbo when to stop building boost and if you unplug it then you acn build as much boost as the turbo can

You'll gain a little power with more air,but I think the biggest advantage is lower egt's.
Some guys will build a heat shield to go between the filter and engine to keep the intake air cooler.....cooler air is denser and gains some hp.:thumbsup

Actually since an open element BHAF is just sucking in under hood air, and the factory 2nd gen box was pulling in outside air from the fender pocket, your intake air temperatures will increase with the BHAF. It does flow more air than a stock airbox/stock filter, which is an advantage if you have other power mods. Diesels don't really gain much HP from big air filters alone. Big air filters just allow you to better utilize power mods with more available air. So if you're really after cooler, more dense air, the BHAF is kinda a wash in many ways. Also, the BHAF has to be huge to overcome the fact that stacked paper pleats 2.5 inches thick do not flow well. The CFM per square inch of filter surface area isn't good on that much stacked paper. Stick your hand inside that big filter and see how thick that media is. Since this much paper flows poorly, the BHAF has to be that huge to still flow enough air.

The big advantge of the BHAF (Fleetguard AH19037 or equivilant) is that they filter air very well. The only aftermarket filter that compares to the BHAF for filtration quality is the AMSOIL Nanofiber filters. The limitations to understand with the BHAF is that just because they are huge, doesn't mean that it flows the best. And they're not reusable. But as I said it is better than a stock airbox, that's for sure. They certainly do look impressive under the hood.

I still have my Fleetguard AH19037 out in the shop. I now run an ICEBOX intake on my '02 with a Nanofiber 4510 filter. A heat shield on that BHAF would certainly help.

um miles im not sure if the BHAF would necessarily help in your case. if your getting hot with the brute force maybe its time to think about a phat shaft 62/14 or equivelent turbo, just a thought. how hott are you running? i am looking at buying the ddp 150 injectors this week and am wondering what my egts will look like with my stock hx35 charger.
