Thats one of the problems with an auto, when one thing goes bad, you usually just replace it all cause its "bad" even though it might be fine its not worth the risk. I had a trans go out and the converter checked out ok! Then it shortly went out and took out the trans too! So ya live and ya learn!

Yeah pismo is a nice place to be stranded but I have a 20 month old daughter and a 3 week old son. Plus I have no one to go riding with. Plus I'm self employed and everything falls apart when I'm out of town.

same thing happened to me on my 03 7.3 F250 and the fix was a factory reman tranny.

So you can have fifth gear give out and have to drive all the way home in 4th? LOL had to throw that in there.

Doesn't really matter what brand truck you have when you're talking about problems. This is all new technology and getting it all to work together will take some time.

a guy here at work just bought a dually 4dr....10 mpg....he about $hit when I told him i get a little better than double that!

It's not just the tranny...It's all the problems combined that I'm reading about on this board. I know that if there's a problem, it will be posted here, but sheesh...

don't put a lot of stock into what you read, some people have these trucks pretty heavily modded and have no problems, some are stock and do have problems. the fords and chevys have their fair share of trouble as well, just wait until they have to up their emissions equipment for the new standards in a couple of years. the cummins is already there so it will hopefully get nothing but better by the time chevy and ford are just starting out.
