My 2013 is at the shop with 500 miles. Not happy

Well I pulled the trigger and bought a new 2013 CC, SB, ST, Cummins 4x4 from Dave smith on Monday. About 100 miles away from the dealership after purchase I reached the freeway and quickly found that from 71 to 76 mph there is a horrible wobble, vibration, it feels rotational. Read online on my 450 mile trip home that the tires are most likely the culprit, no big deal, Im going to level it and put on new tires. Dang it. New tires, multiple balance jobs, and swapping tires around. The vibration still exists. Call local dealer (I did not buy from), they were less than helpful so far. Schedule appointment, take truck in after work and drop off. Call today at 2:00, no update will have service call back the guy says. 330, no call, so I call. No update still diagnosing, agree the wobble, vibration is there. So thats where it sits. Clearly Iam not happy and venting right now. Never bought a new truck, always had Cummins, 12 valves, 24 valves, CR etc. First new one and not happy its in the shop. Dang u Dodge. :banghead:

That's a bummer for sure, but it sounds like tires.
I thought tires as well, but both the factory set and the new set do the same exact thing.
Maybe you got faulty u-joints??
rim may be out of specs or round
I'm sorry I misread it as you were going to get new tires, but see that you already did. Hmmm.
I have read every thread I can find with vibration and wobble as key words. 90 percent were tire related. I found a few that the issure was drivelines being replace, and or rebalanced, full axle replacement, and I think thats all. Any one else know of anything else? \

Maybe u joints as cumminsdieselfreak suggests.
All of the above are very familiar with me. My 97 has 250k on it. Ive owned about 6 Cummins now. Im a DIY'er, so ive done everthing from clutches, to axles, u joints, drivelines, ball joints etc.

A brand new truck though? Man thats rough.

Your drive shaft may be outta balance.. When you let go of the steering wheel can you see it in the wheel as you're going down the road?
Agree, check rims next. If that doesn't fix it then I'd check the driveshaft.

Not sure if I can see it. Sure could feel it in the wheel and everywhere else. It was very pronounced.

I'd bet your drive shaft is outta balance. I'd suggest that to the dealership if i were you.

Rims, doubt it. It had the symptoms with stock wheels and tires. Still did the same thing after I put on new Toyo 35x20 mt's with Rockstars. The Rockstars were on my other 97 Cummins I sold with not so much as a wobble. Im really leaning towards drivetrain. All tires and wheels both stock and aftermarket have been rebalanced and cross rotated. Same results. I think wheels and tires are a remote possibility. But I guess a possibility none the less.

Nothing like dropping a ton of money and then dropping the truck at a dealership. Lame.

I agree. My 97 has a bad front driveshaft. I can feel it about 60 mph. Rotational, vibrating, segmented noise. Not sure if that makes sense. Its like it goes around 320 degrees and then the las 40 degrees goes away, then on degree 1, comes right back.

The 2013 is similar to that, but no quite. More consistent and isolated.

I told the dealership what I thought, they blew me off. Not impressed so far with them. Hope they are better at fixing trucks than listening and not being rude. Time will tell.
I have an issue with a vib that is bad right around 71 all the way up to 80.

Sounds very similar. Any speculation or had it looked at yet? Still got stock tire and wheels? One ton or 3/4?

Most threads Ive read are isolated to the new 50 ksi frame.

If that's how they are i'll bet they'll blame it on your aftermarket wheels/tires..
Is it possible to have Dave Smith take a look at it?
I had good luck with their service and sales depts. when I bought mine 1400 miles away.

Im on the fence with that one. That was my first inclination as well. So when I took it in I brought the original tires and wheels also for them to swap around.

The dealership levels alot of their new trucks and levels them as well, so Im hoping they dont cop out on the tires and leveling kit, but yes I agree, its their easiest way out.

Well... They might blame it on improper installation of the leveling kit..

Thats going to be my last resort. I spoke with the service manager today about the issue. I told him if it didnt get fixed locally then I would drive it 450miles back to them and they could fix it or give me another truck. Like I said only 500 miles on it now. Its scary that alot of folks wont stand behind their vehicle any more. Im trying not to jump to conclusions yet, but the truck isnt in my driveway and my bank accound has a significant decrease in funds. :spank: Dodge.
