Ok guys I know this is a problem for alot of people but I think mine is an easy one. So I bought my mp-8 used from a guy and he did not give me the shims. He said he called and talked to ts-performance to get the correct ones but im thinking no. What size should they be? Dont they need to go deep into the plug where the spring sits? the ones he gave me are almost a 1/2 in. Way too big, so my question is can I just go to the hardware store and pick up some brass or stainless ones that will fit. How perfect do these need to be?

HELP PLEASE!

They should be 3 - #4 washers. Any hardware store may have them. Yes it needs to be installed behind the spring.

I got some washers but they do not say if they are #4 or not but do fit in perfectly. Will the thickness be ok?

HELP PLEASE! The truck will not fire at all it just keeps cranking over. I have tried the plugs each way and am sure they are correct. Could it be the shims? When it did fire it was really rough and threw 4 codes about fule pressure low and crank sensor and I dont remember the other two. This is why I have been scared to install this thing. Its driving me nuts. Keven can I get a shim kit from you would this cause it?

OK figured it out thank you comp for the help! It was a cut wire from the guy before that I did not notice, I was losing my mind over it and checked everything ten times. Atleast I know how to take everything apart now for the egr delete. With I would have done it then but totally spaced it off with the other problems.

Did you get the plug seated correctly and torqued to spec? I have heard it needs to be in there REALLY tight not sure of the spec though.

OK new question about this setup now, I had a chance to go out today and really check it out. With the mp-8 100% and the edge on 5 this thing bellows more smoke than my 5.9's. This cant be normal, could I have shimmed the plug wrong? Since I did just buy them from the hardware store. wrong thickness or what? It is just too much smoke even at low speeds its smokes out cars behind me.

since you havent blocked your EGR yet, you will get ALOT of smoke! With my pup on performance and MP at 100 i could block the road! Now only level 6 on my edge and mp up makes any kind of decent smoke but nothing compared to how it used to! My pup still will smoke more then my edge though to, i just dont run it anymore.

The smoke at low speeds/loads drove me NUTS i hated it! I actually stoped running the pup and juice until i got the EGR delete installed cause of it. I really like to roll the smoke when im in it.....not while im cruising down the road.
