With that said, the Wrangler is still her preferred off-road oriented SUV.
I'm surprised you even considered gassers. But if you want an affordable Wrangler, I may be selling mine.

Only one thing wrong with it, really. It's a diesel. And I should get around to registering it.

Alright more details needed, I know you wouldn't have an eco.

Unfortunately, the EcoDiesel is discontinued in the Wrangler. She wants the Hurricane (twin-turbocharged 3.0L inline-six) in a higher trim package (Sahara/High Altitude).

Didn't your car budget recently open up? And we all know once budgeted the money must be spent. I say get the wife the car she wants, life's too short.
I recently did that. She’s extremely happy with it. The wallet isn’t happy but like you say, “life’s too short”. 😎

She isn't quite ready. Once we get the garage with living quarters built at the mountain property, then she'll see more of a need for the Wrangler since we would be going back and forth on weekends. As of right now, she wants to continue with our building projects.

If she wants it, she wants it.
That's the point you keep missing. She doesn't want it right now. It was my idea to take her to the Ford and Jeep dealership today while we were out running errands. There's a new Jeep/Dodge/Ram/Chrysler dealership that got built, so we've been wanting to check it out.

I’m having trouble visualizing what tasks a Wrangler can do that a RAM 1500 can’t....based on the fact you seem to be alluding to the Wrangler basically being a commuter vehicle.
  • RAM 1500 Crew Cab will have more interior room
  • RAM 1500 will have more cargo capacity
  • RAM 1500 will have more towing capacity
In any event.....I’m having some withdrawals from the trading in of my Wrangler.

Kinda hard to put a finger on it....but they’re an addictive little SUV, based on my 18 months of ownership.

I‘d steer clear of a Bronco...for now....personally. Their interiors are cheaply made, several mentions of broken tie rods due to the IFS when used in any serious type of off roading, overall quality of things such as their soft tops still suck post COVID, engine issues, and there’s a recent No deliver / No drive order issued on about 400 units due to steering gear issues

in addition to FoMoCo offering $2,500 to people who’ve placed an order to bow out of their orders, there’s shenanigans galore at the dealer level, primarily what you’ve already posted...the dreaded ADM.

You sure I'm the one missing something... I'd wager she wants it more than a 3rd novelty truck. Now or later..
The Hurricane engine probably won't be available in the Wrangler until at least 2024, so that would be a small delay. ;)

She's fully onboard with the regular cab EcoDiesel, assuming a few things playout. We've got a few business plans underway, so the truck would be bought under the LLC. (y)

The Wrangler will be more practical and better equipped for off-road situations, and/or when the road conditions warrant a more capable vehicle. Our trucks are pretty decent most of the time, but the highway tread limits what they can do. There's 10 miles of dirt/gravel road to get to our property. These are classified as recreational roads, so they don't get maintained in the same way that a residential road would.

The other benefit of the Wrangler is its ability to easily navigate and traverse the forest and BLM roads.

Wow, I didn't know you traded the Wrangler. o_O

I don't think my wife would swing for a Ford. It was neat to look at the Bronco, though. We were impressed with how comfortable and spacious the Bronco was compared to the Wrangler.

When I retire, I want to become a bear hugger:

"Now hiring professional bear huggers.

Must have ability to hike in strenuous conditions, have the courage to crawl into a bear den, and have the trust in your coworkers to keep you safe during the process.

Not all law enforcement field work is this glamorous, but we would love for you to join the team where you can have the experience of a lifetime.

Applications for the next class of Conservation Officers is now open. Deadline to apply is March 30th. Click the link below for job details and hiring timeline."

A set of take-off wheels and appropriate all-terrains would cost quite a bit less than a new Wrangler.

And if being able to traverse roads in less than perfect condition is truly the main reason for getting a Wrangler, do consider buying a 3500 instead.

One of those would solve a number of Ecodiesel/1500 related issues in the process.

I've been stoked to get the long-awaited Governor, so I've been looking for .410 ammo. This will be my first .410 gun!

Remington makes 16 types of .410 shells designed for target shooting, upland, turkey, small game, big game, and personal defense, but they are sold out of all 2-1/2" shells. :(

Federal makes 20 types of .410 shells also in a wide variety. They were mostly sold out as well, but they did have two types in stock (target and upland). I ordered 3 boxes of target load and 2 boxes of upland for a total of 125 shells.

Winchester doesn't sell factory direct, so that means trying to find those rounds on websites and in the stores.

Swapping tires will improve traction, but the Wrangler is still the best option for traversing deep snow/mud. The Wrangler's clearance and articulation (and overall width and length) make it a much better option than a Ram 1500 on forest and BLM roads. We miss the Cherokee XJ. It was nimble and worked well for towing small loads of firewood, milling logs, and taking limbs/stumps to the burn pile.
