Yep. About 3 weeks ago. Guy contacted me out of the blue and looked at it. Made me a offer I couldn't refuse.
The 6.0L is sought after by some. I know a guy who has three of them.

Any plans for a replacement tow rig?

Lots of pictures of green equipment just like the old days.👍
Speaking of green equipment, I added stickers to the ChainBoxes. The stickers match the 3" stickers on the 120R loader.

Not at the moment. Waiting for the market to come down. Don't want to pay 6% interest or whatever its at for a 60k truck.

Are you going back with Ford or Ram?

As far as interest rates are concerned, you might be waiting for a while. The feds are planning to continue raising interest rates for at least the next few months. The economy far exceeded expectations in January by adding 517,000 jobs, plus unemployment dropped to the lowest we've seen since the 1960s. The economy has slowed, but certain markets/industries are super strong. There are currently an estimated 5 million unemployed workers in the U.S. and an estimated 10 million job vacancies. These vacancies are driving wages up in many sectors. I've got co-workers leaving to make more money, and their salaries have already increased by as much as $10,000 in a single year. It's insane.

I've got a buddy who is a geologist. Due to the push for EVs, he said companies will be opening mines like crazy all over the Southwest.

It's kinda' nice to see this thread back on track again.
You may remember me saying in a private message that I would be taking a break and not posting as much as the new year drew near. Mostly because we had several projects going on and I needed to focus our time on them. Plus, we spent a good part of December on the road. 2023 will continue to be a busy year for us, but I'll come on and post updates as time permits. To be honest, I can't believe we're already into February.

Don't know depends on if buying new or used. If I go the new route it'll be a Ford. I can get one cheaper with my discount as Ram doesn't have as good of a supplier discount. The Ford would have more options to for the money I'd be spending compared to the Ram. Used would just depend on what became avaliable. I search marketplace every day, but guys still want 40-50k for something a few years old and normally have over 50xxx on it.

Out of curiosity, I ran the numbers on a new Ram Cummins (Longhorn) to see what the MSRP cost would be. I was surprised that it came out to be $93,000 MSRP. A fully loaded truck is now over $100,000 MSRP.

That's why I buy them empty, instead of already fully loaded. Need a little payload after all.

Somewhat on subject, today I sold another Unimog, this time with about a 65% profit. That's nowhere near $100K unfortunately, but 10K for not having done a damn thing to it is still okay I think.

In theory the prior sale was even better with a 100% profit, but that one I had to put some hours into, and even selling at twice what I paid, that was still only $7K gained.

Yeah, I like buying vehicles, and selling them. Have to make money somehow. If for no other reason to pay for the next (dumb) purchase - which may not be all that dumb if it can be sold for 20-30K more than it'll cost me.

Unless...I like it and want to keep it. Either way, I need to make enough money to pay for it, if it indeed gets built.

Yup. Most tradesmens are around 65k in my area and I've seen a few big horns in that range. I can buy a XLT for around 61k depending on options it has.

tradesmen trucks should be in the 20s or lower. I bought my fully loaded limited for under 65k in 2019 ffs. It wasn't that long ago to be able to get a fully loaded truck a little more then half of what the new ones are. It's crazy, at the prices these days i might end up keeping this truck until the day i die. probably not, but maybe. Or i'll end up with the inlaws trucks. They have an 08, an 09, and a 10, all have lower miles then my 18....

What you do with vehicles is what I do with real-estate. Except, you move vehicles faster than I move real-estate.
