My friend has a 2009 Ram 2500 :)drool2:) and would like to do some modifications but does not want to void his 7 year/70k warranty (he's lucky if he puts 20 miles/day on it and it's his daily driver)...I searched the forum but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so if someone could list some things that can be done in this situation it would be helpful, maybe it could be made into a sticky at some point.

Thanks...Brian

Bilstein 5100s and the upgraded rear cab mounts from the new body style Ram heavy duties.

Funny thing is in this day and age I've heard of them trying to deny warranty if upsizing the stock 31.5s to 33s. It fries the rear end they say which is total BS.

guess I should add this to it...what performance mods (if any) other than the DPF back exhaust are available?

None that won't void the warranty. Seriously, anything that makes the truck perform outside of stock parameters can/will void your warranty. A lucky few have found dealers that are mod friendly but they are far and few between.

Mine are dealer installed 35's so I don't have to worry about all that crap :)

In one of the diesel mags they have a monthly article on mods for the dodge with the 6.7 that won't void your warranty. Nothing they have done was for performance of the engine.

At least a couple of the air intake companies say they will pay for the repairs if the dealer voids the warranty because of the air intake. However, that might cover that situation, but it won't cover future ones.

they installed a S&B CAI and a fitch fuel catalist but do it at your own risk.
I remeber the Fitch install and they pulled it before they took the truck in for repairs to avoid warranty issues

Have y'all not heard of the Magnuson-Moss Act??

Yes yes..everyone has heard of it. Basically stating we have the right to add after market upgrades without a dealer voiding the warranty.

Thats all fine and dandy but try explaining that to the Dodge dealer when they void your warranty. They can simply state that by running certain engine mod devices you are changing the way the emissions parts function (if you even have them anymore) and there by becoming a federal offence for tampering with emissions equipment.

Either way, good luck with that.

Aceracer24 were did you buy your truck from to get it with 35's. I got lucky and got a dealer that is cool with mods, they leveled it and but 35 bfgs on. If i take in the truck with a tuner and they install it they cover it. not to hijack the thread.

Pull the intake baffle and hear the turbo.

5 minutes to do, and if the dealer is a stinker, 5 minutes to put back in!

Ken Garf Dodge in West Valley Utah. Had the lift (leveling) on it already as well. Nice 20 inch rims.

Yes, we've heard of the Act, but the dealer can and will in some way, shape, or form trace whatever issue you bring it in for back to your mods, and there goes your warranty.

The Moss act does apply to the INITIAL Dodge Factory Warranty. If you purchase an aftermarket warranty such as a WYNN's, ANYTHING you add aftermarket will be grounds for voiding the warranty.

I am having trans problems. Took it to a shop. $3300 for a converter and solenoid replacement as well as a rebuild, flush, etc. Trans was going to be bulletproof. Inspector came out, saw my AirRaid CAI and voided everything on the powertrain portion of the warranty.

So the Moss act does allow for aftermarket modification, but if it can be shown the modification caused the damage, they can void the warranty as well.

Again, ask me how the CAI could blow my TC up? Yeah, 22hp I think AirRaid claims. Trans shop and Dodge both say there's no way, but private warranty companies can write into their contract whatever they please. Bogus.
