I see some pretty good numbers here for mileage. See my signature for what i have done so far. I know I hurt my mileage aways back when i got my lift installed (didn't matter then, diesel was 1/2 the price or less). Just curious if my mileage of 14-15 mixed driving (empty) seems low or about right for my truck.

IMO..That's actually about right for what you have. I can only get about 15 mixed driving with mine.

About the same here, 15 or so around town and if I drive like a granny about 21 highway.

When my Smarty gets here I'm going to try the timing only to see if I can get better mileage.

Shoot guys... I'm pulling 21-23 MPG with my 2002 Dodge Cummins...

travelled 272.0 miles on the trip and only used slightly more than a quarter tank...

(Yes my Edge Comp is on 5x5)

Cmg = Today MPG totals.
Tmg = Total MPG for the tank.

I'll stay with my 2002 24V VP44 pumped truck...:rof

I get 20-21mpg hand calculated. Pretty much all I do is highway driving...but I don't go over 65 ever!. If somebody is riding my tail, I dump on em. I know that does not help, but sometimes you got no choice.

Is that mpg w/ the Quad XZT? What was it before.

My mpg avg 14.5 mixed and over 17 hwy, but that was at 70+mph. I've since changed my ways and now go 65.

I was getting pretty bad milage until this weekend, I did the tone ring/timing ring mod went from gettin 14.9 best tank to 19 just by that one mod. I was very skeptical about this mod since you rotate the timing ring probably less than 1/8 inch but I am at 250 miles now and used little over 1/4 tank!:hyper:

That is with and without. When my truck was new I couldn't get less than 15 mpg but never more than 17 hwy. I got 15.2 mpg on the last tank, avg 38.2 m.p.h. and never went over 63 m.p.h. or over 2k rpm. I have good filters full tire pressure and normal power. It's very frustrating. The XZT seemed to add 1-1.5 mpg at first but their is no difference now (other than power).

Man I have been needing to get a truck and really wanting a truck just like yours but with that lift I was told only 12 to 14 mpg. I was going to get an 08 just like it except they have a 6.7 instead and everyone says they only get 12 with lift. I put 33000 miles a year on and fuel would kill me at 12 to 14. Mostly highway and i can do 65. I would do it in a heartbeat if i could get 20.

there is a curve...

Stock wheels/tires and engine tune after 16,000 miles... before pullin some heavy loads and about 15-16000 miles the MPG was unmentionable :lol3:

16-17 mixed city/highway <65
19-20 highway <65
14-15 at 75 on the freeway
13-14 pullin 10K digger+ 4K trailer round town
10-12 pullin 26' exiss box @CGVW 17K at 75 in upstate NY

Haven't recalculated by hand with 19.5s and lockouts but it is a bit better city and a bit bit better highway based on the last few fill ups...

FWIW

It's crazy by the amount of "baby-ing" to get the city mpg to 14.

:S: I am almost to the point of saying *&^% it and start driving how I would like to drive and take it in the shorts at 10 mpg.
