Mileage update

Well the Power Puck didn't work out as hoped. Driving exactly the same way mileage was actually worse... So it's on ebay now.

I did find a guy in town selling an Edge EZ for $100 and snatched that up. He says it's off of a 2001, and it says 2001 on the sticker along with ezd1000. But I thought the 2001 EZ's were suppose to have an A or a B after the 1000.

It starts up and runs fine. If it wasn't the right one for my truck would I know it right away? (like trying to run an EZ for a 2000 on a 2001)

it wouldn't plug in to your map sensor if it wasn't the right one so i would say it is right!! is your truck throwin any codes? if its not improving your mileage there could be another issue
so the puck SUCKS too? i am selling my Milage Max also now.

What did you see with the Mileage Max? My first tank wasn't good but you need more than a few tanks to see if it really helps.
I run an Edge EZ, and get the best fuel mileage on the #2 (towing) setting. the low setting doesn't seem to spin up the turbo as quickly, there's a noticable lag in throttle response like the stock engine.

I wouldn't say it sucks, it gives a nice boost in power. I was hoping that would convert to mileage if your not on it but it didn't for me. Now I only ran 20 gal with it. Maybe I should have tried a couple more tanks but if I didn't see at least a 2 mpg increase then I knew it wasn't going to be anything great.

I can really tell the difference with the EZ compared to the Puck. Mines set on the highest level. I haven't got on it yet but just when cruising along and easing on the pedal you can really feel it pull.

The guy I got it from said to leave it on the highest setting unless I had injectors. I think even the edge site says the highest is best for stock trucks? What do you guys that have them think, should I drop it down to 2? Will that give me better mileage?

Here's my problem w/ the Quadzilla Max Mileage. My truck completely stock averaged 18-20mpg's. With leveling kit, straight pipe and All-Terrain 285/75/16's it dropped and stayed at 16.7mpg's. With the Max Mileage, the very first and only tank it went up to 19mpg's. Since then back downto 16.7. Online updates don't go through. So I don't know what the hell to do? It;s just a waste:$:
Ok gang...

I'm running a Edge Comp on 5x5 and here is my results...

272.0 Miles on a 1/4 tank of fuel... You can see the Edge Comp on 5x5.

Here is my ScanGaugeII and its results...

Cmg = Today's total MPG
Tmg = Total MPG for the Tank
MPG = Instant MPG
MPH = Miles per hour (speed)

Here is how I do it...
Better MPG's

This sure helps too..
2 Cycle Oil

Catch me if you can...:rof:lol3::peelout

well got some numbers now. bad news i actually got worse economy. i round trip atlanta twice a week so i have a good way to compare.

i was getting 15.7 mpg without the MMM and now the best i have gotten in the last three trips is 15.4 mpg with the box on.
Have you tried the Juce W/Attitude? This is what i found on a 4K road trip. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/9...on/28845-did-mpg-test-edge-juce-attitude.html

run it on 2 or 3, just when you go to tow something make sure it is on 2 (IMHO up to around 3000 pounds)
anything heavier, I always drop mine to #1

The higher the setting the high the timing... You just got to control the fuel with your foot and slow down and 20+ MPG will come...

Shoot like my post I've got a Edge Comp cranked up to MAX and still getting 21.7 to 23.3 MPG... Just follow my sig.

"Keep your pyro under 600*F and boost under 5 PSI and 20+ MPG will happen!"
:agree2: i get great milage with my 5x5 im seeing 18.7 mpg city driveing wile still haveing some fun

I think I read on the Edge site that (along with the timing) it's puts in less fuel at low boost levels as you lower the levels. I think they said something about maybe getting some black smoke on level 3.

And also, is it just me or level 3 and maybe even 2 have a little lope to the idle? I could swear it sounds a little more beefy or something.
I guess I'm just an old timer when it comes to this stuff. I was so bent about having to get a computerized truck to get the 6 speed, and did sticks just to not have more electronics, but I think I just got 20.5 on a tank. No timing mods. I see all these numbers, and I have to wonder if the transmission is playing heavily into the lackluster performance. I KNOW I had to drive differently to obtain higher fuel efficiency in my truck after the 100 hp injector tips. Mostly in the shifting/engine loading. Usually I get 18-19 if I can control my foot on the stupid pedal :)

I also know that identical tests booger the heck out of fuel efficiency. That's why EPA #s on diesel Toyotas are miserable. You want the engine at a lower operating rpm. The higher fueling allows this. Every time the engine turns over, there is a certain amount of load. More power at the same load level means more efficiency. Plus slower engine speed means the pistons are running away from the combustion less, and soaking up power sooner and later in the stroke. The turbo spreads out this efficiency band DRAMATICALLY. In na conventional engines the efficiency band is from 75% load up to 110% load (110% is at "standby" power which is not sustainable) The turbo widens this band with limitations only at engine durability.

I don't know much about the autos, but in the "tow/haul" mode, it keeps the engine in the torque band more, which should help. I believe it also makes more firm shifts, and helps maximize torque converter lockup, which should help a lot.

Main levels... (Amount of Max Fuel and Timing)
1. 40 HP
2. 60 HP
3. 80 HP
4. 100 HP
5. 120 HP

Sub Levels... (How fast you get to Max Fuel and Timing)
1. Only 33% of fuel given and normal timing till 20 PSI of boost is reached.
2. Only 50% of fuel given and normal timing till 15 PSI of boost is reached.
3. Only 67% of fuel given and normal timing till 10 PSI of boost is reached.
4. More fuel given and more timing at 0 Boost.
5. Most fuel given and most timing at 0 Boost.

Since my cruising boost pressure is about 2-3 at 55 MPH I have to use sublevel 4 or 5. Since I want the most timing I got to use eithe Main level 4 or 5...

Currently I'm using 5x5 and hitting some great numbers...

Interesting stuff... but I was talking about the EZ. :)

Very impressive numbers!:thumbsup

Basically the same thing applies with most of Edge Products... Higher the level the more timing and fuel givien. (EZ Edge, Edge Comp, Edge Juice, Etc.) Just control the fuel with your foot and/or cruise control.

Very impressive numbers!:thumbsup
This one is a actually in my fuel logs on my web page.

123,907 - 123,558 = 349 Miles / 14.893 = 23.43 MPG

Here is a few pics...

Take notice 272.0 miles and barely a quarter tank of fuel is used. Now today I'm down to a 1/4 tank remaining (12 gallon left - 3/4 of tank used) I've got 502 on the trip...:w:

Here is my fuel stats...

Cmg = Current MPG for the Day
Tmg = Total MPG for the Tank
