I searched this and found conflicting information. Does the 4th gen megacab have more leg room/distance between the back of the front seats and front of the back seats than a crew cab? Will the back seats in a mega slide back to the window? If not, what good is the extra cab length, just storage? I know the mega's back seats recline, but I want to be able to put my kids in their child restraint seats and have them not be able to kick the back of my seat.

What about the 4th gen mega versus the 3rd gen mega, any difference in leg room between the different generations?

Thanks for any and all info.

2 + inches more leg room from measurements I took one day at the dealership.
The seats fold flat in the mega making a nice area if you have dogs

The seats don't slide and I don't think there is any difference in 3rd gen to 4 th in mega's

If you have car seats, don't get the crew cab. I had a 2014 crew cab as a rental while my 2012 Mega was getting body work done, I have 3 kids in car seats and they can kick the back of the seat in a crew cab. My wife is also a car seat nazi, she knows pretty much all there is to know about car seat safety, even went and got certified. She said the middle of the crew cab is not safe for our car seats because they hang over the edge of the seat, apperentrly car seats aren't supposed to hang over the edge of the seat. Also in the mega I can shut the doors and walk (not stand up) across the back to buckle the kids in, not happening in the crew cab.

The measurement may only be 2" but it feels like much more than that. I have both, and the mega cab is noticeably bigger. I can fit 4 people relatively comfortably across the back seat in the mega. Not happening in the crew because of the hump in the floor and the shortened middle seat. Adult knees are not going to touch the front seats at all. I had 2 people 6'2" in my back seat and they said it was bigger than the Escalade they previously rode in. I've also had 9 adults in my mega comfortably. 3 in the front, 4 in the back, and 2 in the seats I have in the bed.

Well this blows. I was told that there was no difference in leg room when I was looking at trucks, only the extra storage space behind the seats. That's what I get for taking a salesman for his word

I have had two megacabs (06 & 11). My twin daughters were born in 2008. With the baby carriers, it was a piece of cake with the mega. My 5'10" wife could easily get in and out of the truck (she used to sit between them in the back) with the kids in the carriers already in the truck. Now that my girls are 6, they are able to kick the seats if they want to get scolded. Before they could buckle their own seatbelts, There was plenty of room for me to get in and help them (between the large 90 degree opening doors and the added legroom). I am 6' 300# and my brother-in-law is 6'4 and also about 300+. The two of us can be just as comfortable sitting in the back as we are in the front. I remember when I bought the 2006, there was a Maybach (touted for their rear leg room) sitting in the showroom at the dealership. The back seat of my mega seemed to have a little more legroom and, to me, was more comfortable to sit in.

Mega cab has more room than he back seat of any suv or car I've ever been in. I honestly think a cargo van would be the only thing that has more. If your looking for leg room, Eva cab is the only answer that has a bed.

Not all, but A LOT of them don't know their from a hole in the ground when it comes to trucks. I visited several dealerships in Cali and I had one guy tell me that there was no real difference between the 2500 and 3500 lines except payload capacity.........:buttkick:.......I responded, "Hm, I wonder how that's possible if they are the same truck. :confused013: OK, thanks I'll let you know if I have any further questions." I didn't even ask him about the differences, I had already done the research. But the Mega has way more room back there, we love ours.

Yeah, I usually make it a point to know everything I can about whatever I'm looking at so I don't have to resort to asking salespeople. I once test drove a single cab SRT10 that had a volt and oil pressure gauge on the a-pillar and the sales guy tried to point out the "boost gauge" to me. Lol not quite, buddy

I can measure my friends again. I swore there was no difference between the edge of the seat and the front seat. But looking, it looks like it's more. I know the rear seat is much bigger and for a car seat - the seats are sitting more back on the seat making the distance to the front seats much greater. I miss my 07 Mega.

Ram's website list the mega as having three more inches of leg room. I sat in a 2011 recently and it felt like much more. I'm def getting a mega for the room. Thanks for all the above info.
