I've always been a die hard MANUAL guy but I've been considering an 09 w/ 68RFE. Read that some really like the 6.7/ auto/ EB combonation.

Who tows heavy and has switched to the 68RFE w/o regrets?

i have , and have had no problems with mine 85k so far, just let the tranny work and dont over gas it under heavy loads and it will be fine. i would love to have the aisin but didnt want a [email protected] .

i have a auto which is 6gears (07.5 and up) , i put it in tow haul mode and let it work its self. with 3.73 gears and 19.5 rims on a 285 tire pulling my trailer fully loaded i can cruise at 70mph around 1750/1850rpms . i has no problem pulling it at all . kodick's 08 5500 runs 2100 rmp or 2200 at 65mph when fully loaded in tow haul mode ( i beleive, j correct me if im wrong) and hes also running same rim and tire combo but has the aisin tranny.

He probly has 4.88 gears too...I would give anything to run 70 at 1850rpms. Maybe with the Gear Vendor but that's $5000 I don't have.

Don't know about the 6.7's but had stick all my life, got an auto in my 5.9 and love it. pm me what do you shoe?

We went from an 01 with the 6 speed stick to the 6 speed auto. We tow a 12,500lb 5th wheel and really like the auto & exhaust brake - would not go back to the stick.

With 4.10 gears we are right at 1500 rpms at 55 mph in 6th (speed limit for towing in Calif).

I've decided to stick with what I have. Gonna run mine 5.9 till it pukes. I've only got 140k on it and have been running BD's exhaust brake for the last 50k miles.

Maybe I'll switch when the 2010 models have been around for a while, . . . If they actually make it to the lot........

I've got the NV5600 in my truck and the farm truck has the 68RFE. I'd much rather have the manual but I do like the auto. We've had it pretty loaded, 25K, and it pulls it without any issues. The EB is a nice option and so is being able to select your gear, works good for towing heavy and keeping it from upshifting when you don't want it to.
