manual boost controller

i know a lot of people like to use boost elbows to up/control the boost on our trucks. my question is, why not just make the vacuum line on the turbo longer and plumb in a boost controller to a more accessable location?

You could do that but most times guys only do that with an external gate to help get their compounds tuned in instead of having to get out of the truck and manually adjust the gate in the engine bay. What I have found once you find the sweet spot with your single, adjusting the gate or the boost elbow, you pretty much leave it there.

It's a cool, convenient idea though.

oh i completely understand and agree. i have a manual boost controller on my turbo mustang. i never touch the thing, but when i do, its easy cause its right in the corner of the engin bay. just wasnt sure if there was any "issue" as to why people dont do that instead of running a boost elbow that is pretty difficult to get to.
