My dealer has had my truck all day Wed, Thur, and Friday - putting in the new turbo. Now they called and said they want to keep it over the weekend as well. What the heck do they all do? Is this typical that it takes this long to put a new turbo in? Has it been your experience that the new turbo will fix the P2262 problems?

I had my truck back the same day (late in the afternoon) when the turbo was replaced. Yes, it did fix the 2262 problems - at least until the next time. Maybe the low soot flash will allow the new turbo to last longer than 10,000 miles, which is all the first one achieved.

your sig doesn't say where you are, but if you are in Puyallup, I know exactly what happened. you weren't there pounding on the desk, and the guy who was got the turbo and the mechanic's time. Mine sat there all weekend with 10k worth of dirt bike and quad in the back, because of a leaking gasket on one of the access ports. While listening to people pounding on the desk, I watched three other people get bumped for parts to take care of the ones that were there in person. I had vowed never to go back, but that was follow up warranty work that no one else would do cause they caused the problem in the first place.

Hmmm. Not sure why the signature didn't work last time. Must be cyber ghosts.

Actually, the longer this truck stays in the shop, the easier it is to lemon it. Here in Minnesota, 30 days in the shop before warrantee is over and you can lemon it. Also, 4 times in the shop for the same thing and it can be lemoned. They have to buy it back full price minus $.10/mi.

Got the new Turbo a few weeks back... Seemed to fix my 2262... Dealer said there were 90 trucks waiting for the "new" turbo over the Memorial Day weekend. Somehow he got mine bumped up the list. Still didn't have my truck back in time to pull the trailer camping. Mileage seems to have gotten better also?

Has anyone asked what is special about a new turbo? Is it just because its NEW? What causes IT to throw the 2262? Whats the difference in the old one and the new one ,besides soot content. There both still HE351Ve's arent they? If all they need is to be cleaned then dont waste your time and let THEM work on them for 1 or 2 weeks by waiting on a new one! Let them clean it out or do it yourself, if you have the resources. I took one apart on a New Holland tractor and cleaned it out and put a new thrust bearing in it. I know this one is a easier place to work on but it can be done. To have a good, dependable engine you need a good PM program. JMO

I took apart, cleaned and replaced the thrust bearing on this schwitzer turbo on my New Holland 6610. My 6.7 was worse though.

When Tom matson dodge replaced my turbo the darn exhaust brake went t/u on it and it took them an entire week to install and get the parts.
