Was chugging about 75mph down the highway yesterday 3hrs into a 6hr trip home and lost my belt and spun the alternator pulley right off the shaft. Luckily the pulley was sitting on the tensioner when I got over to the side of the road. Had my tools with me and put it all back together and finished the trip home.
So my question is, with the shaft on the alternator being RH thread, and the belt spinning clockwise from the front, how could it have possibly spun off?
