i have a 07 stock turbo going on this weekend, with my hy35 my egts never get over 1250 so i was thinking maybe injector or a mp-8

If your swapping out your stock turbo (not an hy35) with a he351 your still going to have drive pressure problems. I wouldnt add any more fuel if your going to keep the he351.
get the hot +2 lol no smarty and idk if the ppe hot adds prssure so if not get the mp8 im getting the ppe here this week sometime so ill c

i was thinking that the he351 was bigger and better than the stock 03...from other people on here noticed a big differance
Its a little bigger than the stock he341 on the compressor side but it still has the small 9cm exhaust housing. Thats where you might run into problems. They are great little turbos, and a good upgrade for the money but they can only do so much. I have a buddy that did 529 with a stock turbo smarty, ez, and 90s but i bet his drive pressures were terrible.
i went 506 last weekend with whats in the sig, i know my stocker was not a happy camper. I'd say instead of spending your money on injectors (those aren't cheap) or an mp8, put it towards a 62mm charger. I dont know how your only seeing 1250 for egts.... i hit 1700 last year draggin a sled with just an edge (i know edge isn't the best for egts but i still cant keep them down any better with the smarty)
i watched a guy do 568 on stock turbo. drive pressure had to be insane.
Sorry to poach the thread, but can someone please explain what exactly drive pressure is.

thanks guys
I hope to be able to keep my drive pressures under a little more control with the He351VGT?

the pressure on the exhaust side of the turbine

Any idea how big the exhaust housing is with the vgt turbo and all the way open?
i made 582 with a 66/71/14 ddp90's floor it stage 3 pump smarty tnt/r and power puck for pressure. the 03-04 trucks love injectors that is where you can really make up the ground on the 04.5-07 trucks. just besure to put the air in with it. the stock turbo is an ok upgrade but there is no room to grow or put injectors in. these common rails can spool turbos very well. i mean a 62/71/13 turbo on a common rail is a good turbo even with out injectors if it were me id go with a set of around 100hp injectors and a 64/71/13 or 14 turbo. and of coarse the smarty for the programming on the 03-04 trucks there is not a better programmer. the tst also works pretty good with them too.

sorry for the long winded story.
Danny
thanks for all the input...i guess i will have to come out and say it...if i take a stock turbo off my truck then i will be put in an open modifed call at the pulls...its bad enough that the d-maxs hide cheata's and the others hide nos...i cant run with the open class most have twins or hugh singles and big sticks...not ready to drop the cash...talked to PPE today i am going to send my old ppe in for a hot plus 2 thats a 300 tune with no back down and a 4grand rev limiter... now can i send in the 351 for any mods to keep it stock looking or what can i do...industrail said they could up size the compressor wheel for me but that doesnt help the exhaust side...

i understand that 1250 sounds low but the ppe puts out good power and really doesnt get hot, and i have the 341 turbo and boost fooler about 38psi of boost...to be honest i out pull some trucks that get trailer in, but i am still not makeing full pulls...

so any input would be great...
You can open up the wastegate hole and put a bigger flapper on on the stocker wastegate that should help with drive pressure . Ill try and find you some info about it
thanks smokey,

am hopeing the hot tune on the ppe gives me more power and the end of my pull i need to spin the tires faster for that last inch..lol
Here is what I found about opening the wastegate hole.

"The wastegate on these turbos has a 7/8" hole with a 1.25" puck covering it.
That is 22mm hole and 32mm puck.

I opened my wastegate hole up to 27mm. You might be able to go up to 28mm but with my crude dremel tool grinding ability, I opted to leave a little more coverage. 27mm is roughly 33% larger opening than stock 22mm. "
sounds good to me
So in your pulling class you have to run a stock turbo? They don't give you a max size you can go with? That stinks!
Browns has modded holset's Browns Diesel. You could probably get one with a 03 comp housing so you wouldn't have the big solenoid that doesn't come on your year of pickup. I don't know who mods them for them, but they have a more aggressive 60mm comp wheel than the stocker and I think they run a bigger tubine also.
